Forums - Nintendo - Will wii= ds in terms of 3rd party support.

The ds started out slow. Very Slow, and with casual only games. Then about a year after the ds started to get more , and more , and more 3rd party support. Now the ds has a massive 3rd party support, and almost every game that is multiplat no matter what console it is on is ported to the ds I.E CoD 4 , AC, and EndWar. Almost every 3rd party supports it, and is increasing. The games seemed to get more , and more hardcore, until you had games that targetted everyone.

Now the wii is starting off similar to the ds. It first gets casual games. Then nintendo, suddently stopped making casual games, and headed toward more , and more hard core games. 3rd parties, are mistaking the wii to be only casual, and are eventually not going to be able to sell quick ports, or a 2week low budget game. After this the only way to make money like in the case of the ds is to make games that target everybody. Now we are seeing 3rd parties making more , and more hardcore games for the wii, along with a few casual games. I could see the wii becoming as massive or even more so than the ds in a few years. If this is true, we have no reason to worry about the wii's 3rd party support. I have a link in my sig that explains other things along with this one , but I wanted to narrow it down to one point to see peoples opiinions, and thoughts on this.

I believe, nintendo is following the path of disruption.

Me too, but the article is too long for some people so I needed to take one point out of it to ask people.

The thing that bothers me, the most is that some people don't consider the wii  "nex gen" just because it is targetting the downmarket(for now).

hopefully the wii will span out like the DS is

people that dont consider the wii next gen are using that as an excuse to get out of how its winning, thats all

i hope the wii gets more third party support,

The Wii will definately get more and better 3rd party support than it did at launch, we're already seeing this in the vast amount of new titles announced for the Wii that wouldn't have been announced were it not for sales, like Rock Band.

Will it ever be the industry dominating force that the DS is?

There is no way to know.

I can predict this, however, PS3 fanboys hope that it won't, and their "predictions" will reflect that.

I don't need your console war.
It feeds the rich while it buries the poor.
You're power hungry, spinnin' stories, and bein' graphics whores.
I don't need your console war.

NO NO, NO NO NO.

What's that got to do with anything? Keep those anti-Wii talking points to yourself. Rockband for the Wii probably wouldn't exist if the Wii wasn't owning the PS3 and the 360 in every concievable way, sales wise. When it comes down to it, the Wii gets Rockband because it dominated the hardware sales. It's like a trophy. I honestly don't care if I can buy extra songs or not, I understannd why you can't on the Wii, however. Storage capacity isn't there for the console.

I for one, could care less about Rockband, but with the inevitable release of Rock Band 2, I can almost gurantee that if a Wii SKU is available at launch, it will be because of sales, and not because of overly-vocal fanboy opinions from the internet, and if DLC is available for the Wii it will be because a storage solution has been created between now and then.
