I really don't get the whole Star Ocean 4 thing.  Why doesn't Square Enix simply come out and say which platform or platforms the game is being made for?  Why all the secrecy?  The same for TimeSplitters 4, wouldn't it be better to let people know ahead of time so they can take it into consideration if they're planning on buying a system well before the game comes out?

Most likely bacause Star Ocean is a very popular series(especially in Japan) and a platform announcement would be a pretty big event. As such, I think it makes more sense to reveal the platform at the SE Party than in an issue of Famitsu

 Because of threads just like this.  It gets people talking about the game and gets the word out about the game.  If we knew it was for x platform there would not be nearly as many threads about it.

Because some versions get cancelled/restarted early in the development process. It annoys everyone if they keep changing.
