do you have some sort of battery extension?  Won't it die pretty quick and then you're gonna have to deal with carrying it around all day with no battery?

I have to add this: Switch does a really good job preserving battery life in sleep mode.

The other day I charged 100%, left it on dining room table overnight - the next day battery life was at 97-98%.

So if you're only breaking out a game like MK8 for 15-20min sessions here and there as you travel or wait in lines - it can last a whole day without a charge.

Yeah the battery life even with an app suspended and Wifi on is incredible, I deliberately took it out of the cradle overnight with Breath of the Wild suspended just to see and in about 10+ hours before checking back on it the battery had depleted 1 or 2% just.

One thing that is strange about the Switch is the design to have 2 seperate batteries in the Joycons which will charge from the main unit but I'm not sure if they can possibly do the reverse of that, the one time my unit has been close to running out of charge a quick check showed both JoyCons almost at full battery power which was about to become useless considering the main unit was going to be running out.

People do, not the same people the 2DS was marketed towards, those people do not bring around expensive devices.

People doing something doesn't mean everyone will do that thing, I rarely see kids playing outside with laptops but 2/3DS's are very common to see now.

And why would a kid care how expensive their new shiny portable console is?

Much in the same way a kid doesn't care that the 2ds their parents bought for them cost less than a 3ds, but the parents who paid for it most certainly care.

In short: tablet PC.

I don't know of many people afraid to take their iPads, phablets, tablets, smart phones, etc. outside of the house for fear of dropping them, losing them, getting phone jacked, etc.

Aaaand reading the comments, I'm about the 50th or so person to instantly recognize this.

The only thing that would make me hesitant to take a Switch out of the cradle today would be the relative difficulty in quickly replacing it due to very limited availability. Once they're readily available on shelves or through Amazon, it's a non-issue unless you're the butter fingers type of phone user who always sports a cracked screen on every smart phone you've ever owned.

50 comments by page 2, the wonders of data compression know no bounds!

If your NS breaks, your 60h of Zelda will be lost forever.

You'd better never take it away from the dock.

It's such a good game - I'd be happy to do at all over again.

I predict NX launches in 2017 - not 2016

It is a good point, though people and even kids have like $800 phones and bring it everywhere they go..

Not really the same but this definitely could influence whether kids are allowed to take it around outside

A little tip. Scratch your name on the back of the kickstand, easy to do as it just pulls off. Always good to be able to identify your stuff.

That's the only real caveat with the Switch.

Nintendo really needs to fix that in a future OS update, particularly if they want their consumers to buy all those special edition consoles you can bet the house Nintendo is going to release over the life cycle of the Switch.

Oh for sure, but the default OS in the switch right now is very feature free, I'm sure given time they'll all start to flow into the system, remember when the PS4 came out it couldn't even play mp3s
