Forums - Gaming - Was weapon durability such a big problem for The Witcher 3?

Kingdoms of Amaluar has this mechanic but you can get repair kits. As much as I love that game. It's super easy to get them and have 99 in your inventory taking up 1 slot. So I kept repairing in the fly. Kinda made it pointless when that easy to get them.

I'm certainly not claiming this is some sort of hit-piece; he's far too intelligent for that. Jim has established a huge fanbase by walking that line perfectly, never stooping to outright trolling (as no one would take him seriously) but routinely offering a contrarian's position to generate views and clicks. He references directly the reception this game has received and so was fully conscious of its standing and the fact that not a soul had felt it deserved lower than a 90, and 70 is precisely the perfect rating to get everyone's attention but not be so unreasonable as to be passed off as mere trolling. Truly, if I'd been asked ahead of time to pick one reviewer who'd provide a low score, Jim would have been my first guess followed a bit behind by Gamespot; if Jim's review had even reached a 9 I would have been very surprised, especially given his current disdain for the Nintendo (the company) itself. He has reason to be in a negative state of mind.

That he claims to be surprised by the outrage proves outright that he was fully aware it was coming; a man who has so often been in this position and makes a living by having his finger on the pulse of the gaming community could not possibly be surprised by this reaction lol

 

 

 

See that is the very problem. He cites other review scores and picks a score he feels is just low enough to warrant outrage without seem trolling. That in its very self shows he purposely picked a low score to draw attention. Then to follow up by saying he is surprised. He did it to get outrage, and then to claim surprpise.

He is a joke.



The weapons break a bit too soon, but it's not a huge problem. For Zelda that is.

Exactly. THis. It also depends on the person who is playing. There will rarely (if ever) be a perfectly positive  consensus on any game.



You don't remember hearing about it for Fallout 4 because it has no weapon degradation. Power armor does need to be repaired but that's because it's extremely powerful and needs a balancing point. Many players, like me, never use it at all.

And why is the weight system "bs" when it's just a variation of inventory space? A superior one for games with a lot of items, in my opinion, as it allows you to go over your limit when necessary.

So the weight system is like a limit to your inventory?

Yeah.  Like, I have to decide if I'm going to carry a 20 pound Gauss rifle with me or just go with my standard guns.  I can pick up several .5 pound fuses or I can grab a 3 pound container of oil.  I can wear heavy armor or I can wear light armor that lets me loot a lot of items.  It gives the player a lot of choices.  Also, like most inventory systems can be upgraded, different gear, perks, and stat increases affect how much weight you can carry.

Some probably did, some probably didn't.  Groundless mass generalizations are kind of silly.  Mods are awesome, though.  



My biggest problem isn't the weapon durability but more that om constantly swapping weapons out all the time, there's literally thousands off weapons everywhere, from simple tree branches and pitchforks to flame weilding swords.
