Bandai Namco’s exclusive Wii role-playing game, Fragile: Ruins of the Farewell Moon, is still set for a 2008 release over in Japan, but the game is currently only at the 30 per cent completion mark right now, so there is definitely a lot of work yet to be done. However, some fresh information has emerged, along with a new screenshot.
Back in November last year, Bandai Namco announced that there would be a contest whereby in three of Mediawork’s magazines readers could get the chance to make a contribution to the eagerly awaited RPG exclusive for Wii. Members of the general public have been permitted to submit their own short stories and sketches for inclusion in the game. There will be two winners and their entries will then be chosen and implemented into the final game. There has been a new deadline handed out for contributions, with it being extended to the end of April since the game is still a long way from being completed by the development team.
Below you can see a brand new screenshot of the game from Japanese website Dengeki:
The game’s official website can be found here and some key details can be found below:
- The game’s design and graphical direction comes from the Seven/Venus & Braves team and is being led by producer Kentaro Kawashima;
- As for the actual game content, this is being currently developed over at tri-Crescendo, the group that previously helped on Baten Kaitos, Baten Kaitos Origins and Eternal Sonata;
- ‘Fragile: Ruins of the Farewell Moon’ will be a Third-Person exploration role-playing game that is set in a post-apocalyptic era;
- In terms of the protagonist, he is a young boy named ‘Seto’ who has to explore the abandoned city ruins in a future world;
- The theme of the game is exploring the lonely and empty ruins whilst encountering gruesome things once in a long while;
- Motion control will come into play for aspects such as the aiming of a flash-light whilst the player moves around;
- The game is set in a future world that has “lost its light”;
- Most of the Earth’s population has suddenly disappeared and the world is now obscured by a cold, evil fog;
- Your character, Seto, travels around the moonlight-bathed world in the hope of finding other human beings. However, it seems like he is actually looking for a mysterious girl called “Heroine”;
- The player’s only tools will be the flash-light and metal or wooden tools, which can serve as weapons. With the flash-light players can dissipate the fog, as well as interact with the environments, solve puzzles, and uncover enemies.
In addition to the information above, the game’s producer has announced that whilst the game may well look like a horror title at the moment, it is in fact really more of a human drama story. Throughout the adventure itself there will be various short stories and artistic sketches on the walls, as well as other similar ideas dotted around the world in an attempt to show gamers just how the world was before the major shift occurred. This is where the idea of the contest mentioned above comes in, with readers getting their chance to make a mark on the game. Finally, it has been revealed in this week’s Famitsu magazine that the direction the game is aiming for is a mix of light novels and tense horror.
