Forums - General - What the Hell, YouTube? What Gives? (rant)

I'm just a little peeved at the moment, and this seems like a gripe over something very minor.  But why in the hell is YouTube deleting my playlists?  First I received this email:

The YouTube community flagged one or more of your playlists as inappropriate. After reviewing the content, we’ve determined that the playlist violates our Community Guidelines. As a result, we removed the following playlist from YouTube:

  • Elsa and Anna
  • Please note that this removal has not resulted in a strike on your channel. We encourage you to review all playlists in your account to make sure they are in line with our community guidelines. Additional violations could result in strikes on your account, or even lead to account termination.

For more information please visit the YouTube Help Center.

    Sincerely,
    - The YouTube Team

Yes, my "Elsa and Anna" playlist was deleted, and I kept an opened mind about  So I made another one with the same content that was a little less descriptive along with a warning just to cover myself: "E&A (+18)" But I had THAT playlist deleted as well, but was warned TWICE.  What the hell gives?  The content is still on Youtube.  If the content is still there, how do they justify removing my playlist?  It doesn't make sense.  If you're gonna remove my playlist, remove the content as well because the content is still accessable with or without a playlist.

    Sorry. Just had to share.

    Around the Network

Uh, how exactly a playlist supposed to be somehow worse than the videos it contains? I know context (i.e. the playlist itself) can change meanings somewhat, but I'm having a really hard time figuring out how a playlist but not the videos it contains can be deleted like this. I'm really not following YouTube here.

That said, YouTube isn't great otherwise either, so no surprises here.

You think maybe it was just someone complained and youtube just mindlessly accepted. Like isn't that how the 18+ stuff works. If someone says this is innapropriate, it automatically makes the whole click to say your 18 and older pop up.

So it could have just been some soccer mom putting on a Elsa and Anna playlist she found on Youtube for her little kids, and then getting her panties in a bunch because Tupac came on.

I've also heard from a Youtuber that his video got removed because of violence.
He was reacting to another Youtuber, and he showed a part of a video with violence in it. His video got removed, but the original video didn't. He contacted Youtube about it, but they didn't do anything.

Ultimately, it is no big deal.  The video titles do have "Elsa" and "Anna" in them.  So even if I were to name the playlist "Jock strap waxing job," it will still show up in an "Elsa" and "Anna"search at some point.  The soccer mom scenario is probably what happened.  But the logic behind this (if any) is just stupid.
