Forums - Sony - The Last of Us is still so damn good...... I can't wait for The Last of Us Part II

I'd like to thank VGChartz for introducing me to The Last of Us back in Summer of 2013. I was coming on this website weekly for Video game sales (before I created this account). One day I noticed "The Last of Us" was the best selling game of the week. A week later it was STILL #1. So at this time I was getting curious what this game was all about and why it's so popular. I looked up some trailers and INSTANTLY I wanted it! I remember bringing my cousin (who's pretty much my brother) to EVERY place that sold video games. NONE OF THEM had The Last of Us. It was completely sold out everywhere. One time I went to the Mall by myself for whatever reason. Until I noticed a FRESH load of The Last of Us's on the shelves! I grabbed my wallet and ran into EB Games right away. I went up to cashier and asked "are those real?" she looked behind herself and laughed "yes just came in today" and I had glory in my hands at last!

Nintation tried to upload a picture of The Last of Us here, but failed. Instead just enjoy these bolded words.

Once I got home I played the HELL out of it! Im not into horror games, or story mode games AT ALL. But this drove me right into it! I wasn't even into mainstream games either, never played Bioshock, COD, or Assassin's Creed. I was 100% Nintendo since the PS2-Early Xbox 360  days (probably explains why my lack of skills of todays games. But I'm getting better). The Last of Us pretty much made me try out non-Nintendo games again.

I re-downloaded the Remastered version to check out the updated resolution but wow... I ended up deciding to play to whole game again. 720p 30fps on PS3. Now 1800p 60fps on PS4 Pro! (4K 30fps looked exactly the same as 1800p but just 30fps).

Once I beat this game again, I'll be sooooo ready for The Last of Us Part II. Since I have the Pro. I'll have the best experience ever!

The Last of Us is Playstation's Ocaina of Time!

Can't agree more with you. Love the game, had it for PS3 and later bought the remaster for PS4 and enjoyed it even more.
The last of us 2 can't come quick enough for me.

I found Pittsburgh to be a chore, the slog of slogs! But the rest of the game was pretty fun. Where it really excelled was in its characters. It's the closest a fully linear game has gotten to making me give a damn. The sound design was also freaking superb!

Vivster, I gotta ask: is there any game you truly love besides Rocket League?

There are quite a few. They don't come along often though. Maybe I'm just not commiting enough and call every game that is above average the love of my life. Game quality is just a secondary criterium.

To get to the topic, TLOU is a really good game and probably the best game I played the year it came out. I'm also looking very much forward to TLOU2 which is an easy preorder for me. It's just no Rocket League.

I can't help but be excited about the sequel's multiplayer.

Real pleasant surprise, there, particularly considering how little the MP was marketed up to release. Wasn't expecting much but it turned out to be a great adaptation of the gameplay into a team based competitive space. Hope 2's maintains the stealth and scavenging aspects. Interested to see the infected mode(s) they'll all but have to do after the first game's outcry.

Hah, I see. It's just from your posting style you come across as a person who is very difficult/borderline impossible to please.

I played the game at release on PS3 and I was amazed. It was one hell of a ride. So sometime later I also got the Remasteres version for PS4. I wanted to play it again, but I just couldn't. It was so damn boring, I didn't see the point in playing it again. That was the moment I realized that The Last of Us almost entirely lives from the story. The gameplay actually is pretty dull. There is simply no reason to ever play it again. At least for me, as everything I'm writing is just in my opinion of course.

I'll sure as hell play the sequel, but I won't buy it this time. I'll just rent it for the weekend, rush through it and that's that.

Its a great story and one of the best last gen games. I will also really enjoy to play pretty much any naughty dog game they are quite good with telling a story.

I much enjoyed the last of us gameplay over uncharted, which I personally always feel lacking. The combat was very varied with switches from zombies and human encounters while crafting was a big bonus.

It will however be some time away I guess the only bad thing is we have to wait this long and I would have personally liked sony to announce it a bit later down the road but its going to be amazing because Naughty dog always delivers and they are among the best in the industry.
