Is it true that you can only get Wolf Link and Epona in BOTW if you have the Wolf Link amiibo from TP and the Link amiibo from SSB Wii U?

I believe those are tied to amiibo only, but I don't remember which ones. My son did use the SSB amiibo and did get a horse. I don't recall if it was named Epona, but now that I think of it, it did look like Epona.

I've been hearing reports/rumors that Epona is a rare horse that can randomly spawn once in the game world, but using the SSB Link amiibo is the easiest way.

No idea if that's true or not, but I'm gonna assume they're both tied to amiibo in the meantime.

Yes, I've heard that as well. Epona seems to be accesible somewhere in the game without the amiibo (but this is not confirmed yet). And yes, it actually is Epona, it's the strongest horse in the game and called Epona when you register it at a stable. Wolf Link though seems to be tied to the Wolf Link amiibo from TP.

As I'm mainly interested in Wolf Link, I just ordered the Wii U special edition of TP which comes with the Wolf amiibo. I wanted to buy the game anyway.
