Forums - Gaming - Nier and Nioh are unfortunately poorly named and timed for release

When I first heard of the two names, I was confused, but if you know what they are, I don't think it would really be an issue :p

Nier Automata outsold the original lifetime Japanese sales in launch week. It will almost certainly massively outperform the original in EU and NA too given it's reviews.

And Nioh has done over 1m already. I know that was shipments, but another week on plus digital, it has done great.

I think they will both be fine and both will sell enough to make sequels likely

200k is a solid launch. 1 milllion is always great. Still that being said - the poor naming/timing adversely affect the legs of these games.

I think both sell well because their high quality makes up for a lot - but I stand by my conjecture that they would perhaps sell better in a less competitive window of time.

I predict NX launches in 2017 - not 2016

I do think Nier: Automata should just be called Automata. I don't think the Nier name was necessary.

Nier, Nioh, Nino Kuni II.
The triple Ni's.

We could even say that 2B, William and Evan are the knights of Ni.

Sorry

Yeah, a nono for sure.

I mean, it's technically a sequel to Nier. Specifically Nier's 4th ending.

It doesn't matter if its a sequel. I doesn't need to have the same name.

Don't know if you are right or not but both seemed to sell well. Nier has been all over social media since before release so most people interesed knows it's another game

When I heard Nier, I was thinking of the old PS3 game, that I saw like once or twice (not gameplay, just a logo). But, this Nier Automata game? Seems interesting. And you guys are saying it's good? I want.

Proof that all japanese games are the same. And dont count. Nobody likes them.

Hunting Season is done...

Yeah. I was confused to how and why they are named similarly.
