If they pop off but aren't broken, so you just has to pop then back in, I don't see how it makes the system less durable.

I haven't seen a console release with such widespread and varied issues in my lifetime, and issues ranging from complete system failure all the way up to shitty design of peripherals causing damage to the system themselves.

even the 360 didn't have this many problems.

The various screeching noises were something to behold. Helped wake me up for sure.

Well, I mean it's more durable than it looks. My last statement does seem odd. I imagined one drop would break the system.
