Like many of you, I've been lost in the haze of Zelda for the last 72 hours. I find myself increasingly avoiding the main story just to explore, forage, mine, and cook. I really enjoy the survival elements in the game — wearing special clothing to survive the elements, eating flora and fauna to recover lost hearts, etc.

Yet I wonder what the game would be like if Aonuma et al. had focused even more intently on survival aspects, requiring, for example, Link to seek shelter or build fires in poor weather or Link to constantly stay hydrated or nourished. What if bee stings required aloe treatment or bleeding required gauze? Stuff like that.

What do you think? Too much? Doesn't belong? Might be cool?

for me it would make it more boring then it already is! lol. im just trying to get the main story done asap but its so huge and traveling and climbing is like most of the game! haha

BotW already changed too much stuff for my liking, so... nope. I'm sure there's many survival games out there already for people who like those.

I haven't played the game yet, but from what I've seen in gameplay videos, there really shouldn't be any more survival elements.

I'd say yes but in a different mode (Or difficulty, since there's one DLC planned with it) than the one already being offered. I love games like Don't Starve so a mode like that would speak to me inmensely.

I can't replay Fallout: New Vegas without activating the Hardcore Mode, which in essence makes you look for food, water and safe sleep, otherwise your character will start suffering heavy penalizations and eventually could die.

That would be cool if Nintendo did something like this for the Hard Mode DLC.

"Just for comparison Uncharted 4 was 20x bigger than Splatoon 2. This shows the huge difference between Sony's first-party games and Nintendo's first-party games."

I like the sound of that. Kind of like Endurance mode DLC in Rise of the Tomb Raider (which is my favorite way to play the game).

Yep, I think that's the ideal solution. The game as it is is fine, challenging but at the same time accesible. So more survival elements will probably be a bit too much. But a new challenge for those who want to try? Yep, I'll probably play it a lot XD.

I am agreeing with everyone else about making it optional.

I think I'm good with the survival elements as is, unless you're including the hyper-delicate weapons that have no option for repair, that just doesn't sit well with me.

That said, I think the option to increase the survival elements would be a nice touch, even if I'd probably never use it.
