Forums - Gaming - The most unexpected moment of FFXV caused me to shed a tear (No spoilers)

Florence and the Machines rendition of stand by me caused me to actually shed a tear after finishing Final Fantasy XV. Very few games, let alone movies have done this to me. Music has a greater power of achieving that for me, but ontop of a game purely based around brotherhood was like a shot to the heart. Hearing her rendition before playing the game did not mean much. If you've played it, you might know what I mean.

It now joins the ranks of the only other two games to make me shed a tear. The Last of Us and Lost Odyssey.

Music is such an underrated component of video games. I think on a whole Square does a really good job of creating memorable, engaging soundtracks. FFXIII despite it's problems, had a really great soundtrack. Good music is able to enhance a narrative and licit emotion from it's audience.

My personal favourite main theme is MGS1's The Best is Yet to come and Snake Eater. Every time I hear those tracks, I instantly want to go replay the ENTIRE MGS saga.

Perfect.

Black Women Are The Most Beautiful Women On The Planet.

"In video game terms, RPGs are games that involve a form of separate battles taking place with a specialized battle system and the use of a system that increases your power through a form of points.

Sure, what you say is the definition, but the connotation of RPGs is what they are in video games." - dtewi

The only video game scene that actually made me shed tears was Uncharted 4's epilogue, which was excellently done.

Look for it. It's quite spoiler-ish to post here.

Two games for me. Suikoden 2 and Shadow Hearts 2.
For Suikoden 2 it was also during a song. But it only plays once, early on in the game. And at that point, it was whatever. Just a nice tune. But the ending ties into the beginning, and that particular scene that cues that music. So re-watching it was emotional.

For Shadow Hearts, it's a promo video song that wasn't in the actual game. But after seeing the ending and watching/listening to it, it just gets to me every time, even to this day.

And by every time, I mean even right now. =(

Beautiful. The Suikoden song is amazing.  I cant imagine how id feel if I to listen to that during an emotional scene. You will find a lot of music in FFXV like this though. Simply beautiful.

Awesome. Didn't make me cry but that song did touch me. Good stuff.

OMG The nostalgia dude!  I love the Snake Eater theme song. It stuck out like a sore thumb because of the tone of the game. It was almost like a parody of itself, since the game was so serious yet the characters were so outrageous. My favorite MGS of them all as well.

Yeah, same here in the beginning. After the game is where it really struck a chord of me. Just all the memories and emotion. Check back with me after you finish. Haha

Should I play Shadow Hearts 1 and Suikoden 1 as well?

Yeah, SE is usually pretty spot on with their music. Although personally the 'stand by me' cover gives more of a vibe than the game itself. I am still disappointed with the game after the movie and anime had made me anticipate a true masterpiece of a story.

Happy to see Shadow hearts here though! Masterpiece!
