I watched a trailer of the game on gametrailers and if the gameplay is like that in the final game it will be awesome. A fluent switch between 2D and 3D on rails, the typical Sonic level design and a Sonic Rush like speed boost are very promising.

I just hope that Sega knows that the Wii version will be the best selling and thus putting the most effort into that version.

No, Sega should more effort into the PS3/360 version. Just give the Wii whatever, because it's going do to well no matter what the quality is. Sega should focus on making this AAA for the HD consoles so it will do great on them.

Well I think SEGA still has a bit of a grudge with Nintendo, I recall some comments about how inferior the WIi was etc, so maybe they do not want to admit defeat. Who knows. Just opinion here.

Makes perfect business sense. Spend your money on graphics to please the few people who actually care for a Sonic game while pissing off the majority of your customers with a rushed project to ensure that they will hesitate to buy your games in the future.

I don't know about you, but I care about gaming sense, not business sense. I say put effort into making good for the HD so it will sale well like Ratchet & Clank, a great platformer. The Wii should be the console Sega uses to cash in off of.

Sonic sells well on the Wii, there has been nothing in the past to even tell me that it will sell at all on the PS3 and definitly not the 360( unless it is a Sonic FPS)

Wii version will outsell all others combined, 2nd best selling version will be PS2, then PS3, the 360.

The PS3 is a beast in Europe. Sonic will do well on the PS3.

I agree that the PS3 has more support in Europe.  However most Sonic fans are from the Sega Genesis generation.  They are older, probably in their 30s, so they may tend to be more casual and more likely to own a Wii now.  The PS3 supporters come from the PS1 and PS2 generation and are less associated with Sonic.  And the new generation of gamers (the new kids) have been introduced to Sonic on the Wii with the popular Mario and Sonic at the Olympics.

Bet with OriGin: Within 1 year Super Smash Bros. Brawl will be ahead of Mario Kart Wii (when aligning the one whole year from each region). 2 week ban from Vgchartz for the loser. Edit: Darn! Looks like OriGin will win.

I don't want to criticize your thinking, you are well entitled to your opinion.  But if it is truly about gaming then all efforts shall be made to maximize the game in each platform using all of its capabilities and features.  To use one console to "cash in" and make real efforts to another console would be disrespectfull to the gamers of that platform.

Ummm, but you're talking about the business aspect, not the gaming aspect. It would be stupid of them to pump a ton of money into something that will assuredly fail, while giving the actual fanbase scraps. That's not good gaming sense or business sense.

Your post doesn't make much sense. You say that you don't care for business sense, then you continue to say that the game should be made good for the HD consoles, so that it sells well.

You should have said that Sega should make the game good for the HD consoles so that you can buy a good game for your PS3, everything else doesn't matter.

But anyway, why wouldn't it make sense to make a good Wii game, so that it will sell well? You may say that the game would sell regardless of quality, but consider that word of mouth is huge for Wii games. Games usually don't have big openings and make a lot of their sales with good legs. A bad game doesn't get recommended to other people, so Sega would leave a lot of potential profit on the table if they mess up the Wii version.

Nintendo fans are more interested in nostalgia than they are in actually gameplay. Because of that, Sonic will do great on the Wii no matter what. 2m worldwide sales are a sure thing for the Wii. If the game gets bad reviews, Wii fans will just claim anti-Wii bias and buy it anyways. It's not like that for the HD consoles. If the games gets a negative image, then those gamers won't buy it. When you factor in development costs for this new engine that has been in development for over three years, that would lose Sega for more money than a crappy Wii version ever would.

You're the one that brought up the business sense stuff, not me. I'm going to be happy as long as I get a good platformer. I'm going to buy it for all three consoles is it's good enough just like I did with past Sonic games.

One could just as easily reverse that argument and say it'll sell subpar on HD consoles irregardless of how well it's reviewed so it's pointless to bother putting any effort into it at all.  Just make a sub-par HD version for the die-hard fans that'll buy it no matter what.

@Riot, you are generalizing quite a bit here, yes nostalgia is a factor to consider but that applies to ALL the fans regardless of their console of choice. Sonic fans who own a 360 will buy for that console, same for a Sonic fan who owns a PS3. In fact die hard Nintendo fans will probably have no love for Sonic as they were quite the rivals back in the day.
