None to crap on the OP but that's only 7 games. Think of the astronomical number of games with male leads. I mean, you're only pointing out the number of games that have a female lead because it's not a common thing. Were it so common it would be unremarkable.
This reminds me of a back & forth I had with a guy on about Uncharted 4. He was pissed because Nadine is an unstoppable force who pretty much kicks both Nate's and Sam's asses each time she meets them. This guy said he's sick of these female characters who can just beat up men all willy nilly. I told him that I do understand his frustration, however, why have I known him to play Uncharted for 10+ years now and have never heard him complain that a single treasury hunter (not a trained mercenary like Nadine) can dispatch whole armies by himself? How 'bou 'deh?

Yes, but it's seven rather higher profile games. And don't forget to include the ones I've pictorially mentioned.
Im glad Sony is pushing this forward and diversifying what a main character can be. Misogynists be damned. Already have my copy of Horizon loaded.
@Onionberry, the chick from Assassin's Creed Liberation was a pretty good lead character. She was black, too. 2 for 1!

I'm fine with that. Why do we have to keep them low profile? Doesn't really matter. I don't even really think about that when I play. Also, it's not like the female character ever has to "save her lover" like most male characters. Either she's saving the world or saving a child. I think this is done because devs know there are some dudes who just can't play a girl who's saving her boyfriend/husband. I think that's kind of silly. I mean, how come we accept sexy Androids and bikini-clad Knights but can't accept a girl main character who can be a real soldier in an actual military uniform.

Was Naughty Dog that broke the trend by refusing to hide away Ellie on the cover of TLOU? |
Just wanted to comment on this as a feminist female gamer:
I'm actually not familiar with some of these titles (namely Nier Automata, Tales of Berseria, and I don't even know what TLOU II stands for), but since you're including Detroit, I have to point out that when I say that a game has a female lead, I don't mean that it also has a male lead. We could also point out that Uncharted Lost Legacy is DLC, not a proper game.
THAT SAID, I would agree that there are definitely more female-centric games for PlayStation 4 than for Xbox One or Wii U (perhaps even combined). Partially that just reflects the fact that Sony's system is winning the current generation's console battle and thus is winding up with a larger game library in general, but it's also partially a reflection of Sony's increased effort in this area as a first-party publisher, e.g. Bound, Gravity Rush 2, Horizon, etc. Contrast that with say Nintendo, which doesn't have a single female-centric franchise remainng now that, as of last year, they've booted Samus Aran from the Metroid franchise. So yeah, I think that contrast does speak well of Sony.
