Forums - Gaming - Forbes: The Graphical Focus Of Microsoft's Scorpio Already Feels Outdated

I honestly couldn't agree with the article more. But I won't say too much as I don't want to cause a fight.

I don't really acre for either approach. I just want better performance, but nobody will focus on that, because you can't show that off in an ad as much.

That and making the 360 controllers compatible with PCs helped the PC getting a ton more games that would have stayed on consoles otherwise, revatilizing the platform.

Lol. No. Xbox 360 controllers had nothing to do with the PC's current situation. Majority of PC gamers use a keyboard and mouse.
It's actually Valve and it's Steam platform that we can thank for the current situation the PC is in, not Microsoft, credit where it's due.

what are you using to play Assassin's Creed, Watch Dogs, Metal Gear Solid, rocket league, batman, and so many others? A Keyboard and mouse? lol.

This is some really odd logic.... Scorpio might fail but not because its "too strong", that just sounds weird.
I dont agree with them on this.

I'm all for extra power,my beef with it, is it seems to be used to play catch up with the latest format rather than on better AI ,less pop up, more individual npc's etc. but where a long way from 1080P /60fps across the board and just as it looks like next gen will correct that we get 4K ,another standard that won't be met anytime soon and then comes 8/16K.

Im hopeing they dont do a Playstation 5 until 2020. Give 4k TV's sometime to get more widespread.

TBH 1080p looks fine as is imo (I dont have a 4k tv and Im not really in a rush to get one ether).

So, why does he talk about costs on Scorpio exactly when it will get XBO games just with higher settings, something which is already there like you see on PC.

It will also probably support some VR system(s). That is an addition to "how a game feels".

Yeah, it's a really dumb argument. All of the assets Scorpio games will be using already exist on PC at the various setting levels, so the budget won't go up in the slightest.

You do have to optimise for the new platform, take full advantage of the custom parts of the SoC...

But yeah, considering that all Microsoft Xbox first party games are built form here on out to also operate on their PC platform, and that most games have a high res/poly asset that replaces a low res/poly asset when the player comes near.
The cost to get the game working at a higher quality would be minimal.

Project Scorpio is not even the besrt place to play Xbox exclusive games, they will more often than not run better on a quality PC.
Scopio: 6 TFLOPs
High end PC: 12 TFLOPs +

They have a point, but; Forbes? Really?

What else? It's the most accurate and fastest form of control input that exists.
There is a reason why PC gamers can do hundreds of actions per minute and console controllers can not.

One thing the PC games need are analog inputs, without these some games are just not as enjoyable to play (mostly racing games and other forms of games where your drive cars).
Luckily analog keyboards are on the horizon, then we will need the games to start supporting them...
