I can have my Wii U gamepad 15ft away from the console with a wall inbetween and it'll still work fine, so this is a pretty big fail as it's like Nintendo went backwards.

http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showpost.php?p=230910566&postcount=552

This guy has it and says it works fine at 16 feet of distance, but it start to have problems with obstacles around 10 feet

This seems to be something that will be updated with a patch anyways

But we'll see.

It's not like I actually measured the distance lol. Good for that guy, but the problem is that it's not good for everyone.

It's surprising how much people are willing to say is OK on this thread.

Many don't panic so easily :p

if it truly works with bluetooth then likely the signal strength programmed just isn't strong enough. They should be able to adjust that in the system, I expect there will be a patch update on day 1 that will alleviate this issue. Someone also has mused on Gaf that its possible that the system is mistakenly putting the Joycons into a lower connectivity power when they're disattached (like a power saving maybe?), when it shouldn't do that

either way supposedly everything worked perfectly at the tons of live demos that people tried so most likely its just some knob turned too low that can be patched

Will this be yet another "nah, this isn't an issue for me, so it doesn't matter" for the vgchartz boards?

Haven't they all been that?

So in essence the Left Joycon isn't working Right.

@OP: Y'know every time I consider buying something at launch I'm always reminded of why that's a bad idea. Hopefully it's something that can be solved with a software update.

Though I suppose I'll be using the switch in handheld mode 80% of the time, so it won't effect me too much.

I think that nintendo will solve it before launch.

We can hope. Also, maybe it's not as widespread as it seems initially...maybe?

For those who say "I will use the pro for everything anyway" so you basically don't care for something you payed and have the right to work without issues. Ps4 controller or X1 don't do this, or even the wii u pro, and Why should I buy another controller because the one that comes with my console doens't work right?
Also this looks like a hardware problem, most likely caused by a weak BT.
