It seems to only happen when you don't have it connected and cover it. Not a problem when using it in the grip mode, so something is definitely. All is not lost though- this can be fixed easily

Not if it's a hardware problem |
I find it hard to believe that Nintendo would make a mistake like this. Its probably firmware related.
My (locked) thread about how difficulty should be a decision for the developers, not the gamers.

Some of tests done so far show it is a hardware problem limitation. The links are somewhere in this thread
I hope they can fix this problem before release.

Nintendo can't just change the Bluetooth signal with a firmware update. The hardware has already gone through FCC testing and is licensed to operate at the current signal strength.

So following what Gamexplain say it only happens when there is an obstacle between the joycon and the console? Pardon my ignorance, but isn't that a pretty common issue of bluetooth devices?
superchunk said: This has to be part of day 1 fix. 1) None of the reports from experience events throughout the world had this issue. (or at least it wasn't reported) 2) There have been a relatively few press units out that seem to be having a high (maybe?) percentage of issues for it to not have been reported in #1. I'm betting there is already a fix out and we'll see it in the day 1 update. At least there better be. |
Or else.

No, it's not. The Dualshock 4 uses bluetooth and I can play it from behind my kitchen bench or with my knees blocking it when sitting on the couch.
