This is true. I have wondered why their software team is out of sync with the hardware team. I'm guessing they outsourced a few projects (browser for instance) and it and others fell behind. And it's far better to have a day 1 patch than delay the entire product several months.

And DeNA probably provided service on the online bit and account management (as was their task from the beginning), so there are some more involved parties this time around. It'd still be nice if these details were sorted and clearly communicated to potential customers a mere week before release of the console itself, I don't think they're gaining anything from being unclear on quite a few matters.
