AFAIK nintendo built the neccessary technology into the wii and has the neccessary rights. So sdhc shouldn't be a problem. However the sdhc is still not activated. A firmware update is needed for this.

Regular SD card go up to 2G, AFAIK.
SDHC has no limit that I know of. The highest SDHC card currently on the market is 32G?
It actually stands for Secure Digital High Capacity, the Max limit of the standard is set to 32GB at the moment - This has been set by the SD Card association, but it's theoretically possible that it could handle up to 2048GB (2TB) in the future.

Ok ,I see, 2gig is fine for me, What I would like Nintendo to do is let us play VC games and such of the sd cards.

So SSBB already supports sdhc. That was new to me. Thanks for the info DarkNight_DS. But it seems they still need a firmware update for the wii-menue.

Yes, I have the game and can confirm it most definitely works with SDHC cards!
