Well, I don't consider that dude's words confirmation. Me, personally. But being an insider at Sony certainly helps and without any disputes from Activision, it's a pretty safe bet. However, it's Sony's ownership of specific parts (publishing rights, as one of them) of the first three games that have done the trick for me. Could it release on other machines? Certainly. It's just highly, highly unlikely based on that criteria.
This makes sense. I just figured anyone who was curious might have looked it up. |
I mean, I could see Activision going around it so that they can put the game on any platform they want: for example, the game isn't called Crash Bandicoot Remake, it's Crash N Sane Trilogy, it doesn't even contain the full original name, meaning that for Activision this is technically a brand new game, not a remake

The fact that Sony is not saying exclusive says it all. But on the other hand way would Sony would be giving up the rights to the first 3 games.
Why one console only? It'd do great if it released on a console like the Switch. It'd also gain additional units on XB1
Seems like a waste if it were ps4 exclusive
Edit: I know there were Crash games on the GBA and DS. Unless I'm wrong, wouldn't this mean Sony doesn't have the rights to the series (unless they bought the rights to it recently)?
Its not an exclusive its a TIMED exclusive

That's very surprising, I guess Sony just gave Activision the ok to make it in exchange for timed exclusivity then. It's not a game I expect to perform well on platforms other than ps4 though.

Activision wants to keep on the good side of Sony and Microsoft they proberbly made a deal to put it on PS4 first in exchange for the time they got on their show and the promotion from sony, which is well worth it for them. The port to the Xbox One should not cost a lot and since the xbox one, scorpio and possibly future consoles just like future playstations will all be backwards comp. and a PC version is also likely trough UWP they should easely recope any porting costs for sutch a simple game.
I wouldn't be surprised if we get a switch version at some point, its activision they are going to activision. Profit.
