Forums - Sony - FFXV gets 60fps on PS4 Pro with new Patch. Digital Foundry Lying?

I just had a play around with the 60fps patch, and i'd say DF's reporting is accurate. I definitively feels a lot nicer (i prefer uncapped frame-rates in games like this), but it's not 60fps nice. From my 30~ minutes of play, i'd say it spent most of its time in the high 30's to low 40's, this all in outdoor environments.

Overall it's a nice addition, but i'll probably stick to 1800p/30fps.

Digital foundry is not lying. They just dissect technically with metrics and tools, the cold game code. If you believe otherwise, it's your opinion, based on your eyes and not the tech behind it

Are you a game devoloper or a programmer? Why do you trust them 100%? No one really knows how these games were really programmed other than the devolopers

If anything, it feels like you are the one who is lying

play it for yourself on your TV, dont trust DF this time. It doesnt feel like 40fps at all

Look, you're pretty adamant about your "feeling", but just because it's significantly different from being 30 FPS doesn't mean it's automatically 60 FPS. Imagine this: the 30 FPS they had initially might've been VSYNC'd. Removing VSYNC makes a world of difference to response and something as simple as an increase of 10-20 FPS (i.e. not 60 FPS) can feel much better.

I absolutely *hate* VSYNC and on my PC games disable it wherever possible. I understand how you feel, but that doesn't necessarily mean it's 60 FPS.

It doesnt feel and look like inconsistant framerate at all. Also looking at the digital foundry video again according to the numbers they proveded most the times  the game stays at 40-45fps all the time. Thats not incosistant framerates like from 30 to 60fps.

I dont trust these results from DF, the game doesnt feel like 40fps at all. Play in 30fps and than 60fps mode, its night and day

If you don't trust them now, can you trust them ever?

I think wont trust them ever again, also their commentary is gtting quite annyoing how they want to run every game at any moment perfect

For me it looks like night and day.

Also even if a game runs at 60fps it still can look like 30fps dueto the animations they were rendered in. It could just be that the games animation were devoloped in 25fps, thats why 40-45fps can actually look like 60fps.

40-50fps @ 4k?
60fps @ 1080p ?

Opinion is irrelevant when we have the evidence. You can believe the earth is flat all you want, but when we can send up a spacecraft to look back and see a round earth, your opinion is defeated.

I've never been a "Resolution/FPS" guy. Just give me a good game with good enough graphics and a good enough frame rate. I've never even been bothered by screen tearing. I want the best experience possible but I don't go crazy playing a particular game that's 900p on Xbox One and 1080p on PS4, for example. I just want to play a competent game. Even last gen (7th) tech is good enough to impress me.

I bought FFXV back around Christmas or something during one of those huge digital sales. It was one of the first times I even noticed frame rate issues. I only logged in maybe one or two missions. I think that, for me, the new option will be good enough. I'll play it on my Pro on Wednesday.

You dont own and play on a PS4 Pro or any 8-gen console so your opinion is more irrelevant than mine by your logic
