Do I have to download the songs or can I just listen to them?

you download a program that tracks what you listen to in itunes or windows media I think the other one it covered was.

Yeah, most media players have support for it, I use Media Jukebox and you can use an official plugin that comes with the program.

So, i guess i have to put the name of the artist in every song i have? How do i do that? I use windows media player

And what's "scrobbling"? It's saying here that it won't scrobble because the time or time zone on my computer is different or something, though the time is right and the timezone too >.<

found my towns page on their, half the bands it lists are crappy garage bands we used to have when I was still at school, surely none of them can still be going.

I dunno about windows media but if I need to fix the tags in itunes I just pull up the info thing and edit away.

And if you download music, it should have the info already. If you rip a cd, it should retrieve the info for you. I don't know where you are getting music that doesn't say the artist from.

Most of my music come from Youtube, i get it with a software, so the music comes like this: (example)

So, i went in the properties and found something to put the author of the song, alright, so when i played it showed something like this:

So i have to put the title as well. Oh well... It's not that of a big effort

What you gotta check is not the name of the file but the metadata. Go to the file and hit properties, hit the second tab and then "advanced view". There's a label there that reads "artist" and one that reads "title". Those two are what will be uploaded to last.fm, if that's correct, you don't have to worry

A tip to music downloaders (looking at you flow): if you listen to music thats reasonably underground its realllllly easy to find just by searching in google. I find a lot of obscure stuff that you can't even buy anymore that way. Or stuff that was never released. Lots of goodies.

I didn't even know this thread existed and I've been preaching about last.fm for a long time now. Though I just discovered Pandora.com two days ago and I won't lie. It's been stealing some last.fm love. However my search for a true good radio will continue until I find one with Violet by Bones Domingo.
