Are you buying Skyrim for Switch?

Never played SKyrim before: if Zelda really resonates I might try it out.

The Democratic Nintendo fan....is that a paradox? I'm fond of one of the more conservative companies in the industry, but I vote Liberally and view myself that way 90% of the time?

I will for sure.

Not day 1 because the game will flop anyway, so is going to be my pre-Christmas gift

Never played Skyrim before so probably.

Wow, a lot more votes since the last time I looked, and the percentages are pretty much still the same.

So if the Switch sells a conservative number for 2017, say 4 million units, and 30% of those people buy Skyrim, then that is 1.2 million units of the game sold through.

The initial launch of 2 million units is already sold out and Switch should easily sell 2 million more by the end of this year.

What do you think? Will Skyrim for Switch sell 1.2 million units this year? The poll says yes.

I don't think it will work that way. People on this forum are commited gamers but the general population has a more casual approach to games. You can't really extrapolate data from the poll. I suspect being an old title, at a high price with limited performance it will sell poorly. People mainly buy Nintendo consoles for Nintendo games and exclusive games.

One thing helping Skyrim for Switch is the fact that there will not be a huge amount of games in the first year of the Switch's life. Less competition from other games means better sales numbers for Skyrim.

Hey! They got SONY on my amiibo! Wait a minute. Two great gaming tastes that game great together!

However less games in the first year means less console sales so a smaller audience to sell to. On uk forums I've seen a large number of cancellations for Switch, people who were first excited for the console then came to realise there wasn't much apart from Zelda that they wanted that had been announced. Some have actually chosen to get a s/hand wii u instead of Switch. Console stock still widely available in UK for launch day. I'm not saying its the same in the US though but not expecting the UK to do good numbers. I noticed in Game that they haven't made much effort to promote Switch and likely it will end up at the back of the store soon if sales numbers are poor. However uk marketing has been very minimal, no superbowl equivilent advertising here. I think Nintendo are focusing more on the US perhaps because of greater disposable income.

Wouldn't that be something if used Wii U's outsold Switch in the UK at launch. If Nintendo is concentrating on the US launch then Skyrim for Switch should sell better here in America. Also there are a lot of people here in the US getting their income-tax returns and have money to spend right now. Should help.

Yes I'm getting it because I've heard its the "HD version" and I've never played skyrim before. I've heard it is a fantastic game so I will try it out when it comes out.

All skyrim versions are capable of HD.

To support Elder Scrolls on Switch, yes I am as long as it looks better than the 360 version. It does not have to be special edition level on the PS4, but no direct ports. That said, gonna wait on DF.

Sure, if they can get it out before December, it would have been a launch purchase but that isn't going to happen so they need to have it available before I blow all my cash on Christmas.
