Forums - General - PewDiePie fired by Disney and Youtube cancels his show

The reason why nazi jokes are funny, is because they're so wrong. If this was something he actually thought, something that was normalized, then it wouldnt be a joke. It wouldnt be funny. It would lose all of its comedic value.

Now, you're free to think that the jokes were bad, or maybe in poor taste. Disney can absolutely throw him out for it, they're a private company, they can do whatever they want. I, and many with me, will think badly of Disney for this. Others might praise 'em for it. Blah, business as usual.

But fucking hell...

I'm from Sweden, and they mentioned this on the news on TV. Is this really news-worthy? Really?! Not only that, hundreds of articles, painting Felix as a nazi, all over the internet. Mainstream media sure is amazing.

That's just the PC world we live in atm. People cant take a joke anymore.

How is "Death to all Jews" even considered a joke. What about that is funny? And why does it bother you that people are not okay with it? It's not like he's going to jail or anything, so it seems that you think that people shouldn't criticize him for saying that.

Well, Jontron made Heil Hitler jokes, too, and said it was just that, a joke. But then come to find out later he goes on Sargon's podcast and complains about white people being discriminated against, which leads me to assume that he was joking less than he claimed. Whether Felix is the same or not, I'm not sure.

"Complain" is hyperbolic, more like he acknowledges that white people are discrimminated against. Also, acknowledgement of discrimmination against white people does not equate to condoning Naziism. That would be a slippery slope fallacy, like an 89 degree incline slippery slope.

Its comedy. I dont think comedy should be censored. If you dont like it, then dont laugh and move on with your life. Watch the video and judge for yourself.

When you work at McDonalds, Disney, whatever corproation you represent that corporation. If they don't like what you are doing to represent their brand or don't want to associate what you are bringing to the table with their brand, they are well within their rights to tell you to take a hike.

Pewdeepie is a nobody and no one will give a shit about this guy in 10 years anyway, Disney has broader issues to think about.

They are, but he didnt start out working with Disney and Im sure he wasnt the one asking Disney to collaborate. I think your hate for Pewdiepie takes the front seat here.

Have to agree with you here.  I don't like the guy myself and find him annoying as fuck most of the time, but Disney is in the wrong here.  He should really look into his contract and see if there was even a clause that even includes this sort of thing.  If not, he should sue their asses.

The SJWs are really on a rampage right now.  They want to bring down anyone, at any time, regardless of their political views.  Make a joke they don't like.  "Triggered!!  Must get them fired!"  Have a view opposite of them.  "Triggered. Must get them fired!" It's gotten so bad, no one even has to complain first, but they'll fire someone or pull a show.  They just do it because they know they are going to hear a bunch of bitching and moaning.  What companies need to realize is not only is this a VERY small minority of people, but if they actually stick it out, within a week the no-lives will find some other cause to bitch about.  After they come up against a bunch of companies that don't give a shit about their moaning, they'll just stick to whining in message boards.

And I looked it up.  Apparently, Chris Rock was on Disney channel on an episode of ANT Farm in 2013.  Hmm.  Sounds really fucking hypocritical, considering his humor.  This would be like if they had him on more than one episode, but if after the first aired people bitched, Disney "all of a sudden" discovered he was a comedian who joked about other races, then pulled the remaining episodes.  They also hired Dane Cook, who jokes about races and pussies, to voice the main character of Planes 1&2.  Just shows you how much power the SJWs have been given in just the past 3-4 years.  Disgusting.

Oh no.. he will be even more popular now, good for him.

And how is he being censored? He's not going to jail for his jokes, he can still go out and make jokes like that.

But he made Heil Hitler jokes before, so I'm not linking them arbitrarily. And how are white people being discriminated against? I can almost guarantee that it is composed of isolated issues rather than something systemic. Jon's father is Iranian, maybe instead of praising Trump he should call him out for trying to ban people like his own father from coming in merely due to their nationality.
