Forums - Nintendo - Nintendo Gives Details on Splatoon 2 all new Spectator Mode

Now this right here could be an example of a neat function of the app thing.  If you could invite people to be spectators via the App even if they aren't playing.  And if that app could then be used to stream, then you could be a spectator and share videos and images of the match from your phone without being in the game at all or even near your system.

Imagine that.

Person 1: Dude, you gotta watch this game

Person 2: I'm out- lemme pull it up from my phone

If done correctly, the phone implementation can be amazing

If I'm understanding correctly, only 2 can be spectators. On one hand, it's pretty cool they made it that way for commentators and streamers, it's specially beneficial for the Splatoon competitive scene. On the other hand, it's pretty lame it's only 2 people, rather than, I don't know, all friends? A limit of 100? 1000 people?

It's great overall, but if it is only 2, it would feel like an odd choice.

Maybe the phone app could connect to Twitch so you could stream for everyone and the spectator mode is just an easy way to get the stream up and running... Why do we not know anything about this? The Switch is releasing in 20 days!!!

Bet with bluedawgs: I say Switch will outsell PS4 in 2018, he says PS4 will outsell Switch. He's now permabanned, but the bet will remain in my sig.

I didn't say it was perfect but on another hand, if they have a built in stream service with that video button later on, then the two people could serve as hosts of 2 different perspectives.

Well this looks good.

See? I can be positive about Splatoon when it's deserved.

This is a pretty great feature, should be very useful for tournaments.

Oh wow! Didn't really expect them to add this!

Pocky Lover Boy!

That's great, will definitely be useful for things like pros coaching novice teams, or for uploading VODs of comp matches.

"Just for comparison Uncharted 4 was 20x bigger than Splatoon 2. This shows the huge difference between Sony's first-party games and Nintendo's first-party games."

eSports feature.

This is fucking HUGE!

They are serious about Esports now.
