In my country which doesn't have official console release or game release, if a games wrap is torn we treat it as used. It's asking price drops by one fifth immediately. And I am really shocked GameStop can sell used games at full price and get away with it. People need to move to amazon for physical games. That's the best option.

its the peoples fault for buying them at full price, if the people refused to buy the used games at those prices then gamestop would reduce them quick. the customers need to realise what people power can do.

It will be really interesting. A lot of people champion physical media, but I can't wait for the day that a new game is released on the PS/XB stores for $40 and its physical equivalent is $60 at retailers. I would be curious to see which sku of the game will sell more.

Lets shoot for equalling Steam's $50 price tage before we eye 40

Ill gladly spend 10-20$ more for a physical copy.

I agree with what your saying aobut digital been a lower price than the physical copy and I've been saying about that for quite some time now but in now way do I see PSN/Xbox dropping new games below $60, They will just take fatter profits instead as people rely on having to get digital copies of their games.

Unfortunately, thats absolutely true!!!!

Th precedent has already been set.

At the very least though, digital prices should change in accordance to the prices of physical games. Cuse right now, digital prices remain high exclusively to allow the physical retailers clear out their existig stock of physical copies.

I stopped frequenting my local establishment 2 years ago, and it closed it's doors about 5 months ago.

Now wouldn't it be great if this was an option that was actually given to consumers. Let those that wanna pay extra for the game box, a physical disc and plastic they can smell and the ability to trade their game in; pay for it. Then let those that just wanna be able to download the game and not have to go through any middle man and could never sell the game to anyone.... pay less.

But most of all...... if they refuseto do that, at the very least let the digital prices be an average representation of whatever the physical prices are.

Id be fine with that.

I do think the move to digital is both obvious and inevitable, though I don't think it will cause prices to drop.

For one, I don't see someone who plays CoD switching over to Battlefield just because it might be $10 cheaper. Basically, games are bought largely on the merits of the game itself, rather than how much it costs.

Secondly, I don't think it's any mystery that gaming publishers and developers work on fairly thin margins. Especially in this day and age where games are so cheap. So rather than the shift to digital dropping prices, I think it will simply further delay price increases, because it will allow publishers to hold onto more of the money from each game sale.

I bet that on launch the Nintendo Switch will have no built in in-game voice chat. He bets that it will. The winner gets six months of avatar control over the other user.

Given how customers are used to such culture I doubt they will ever have awareness.
