Forums - Nintendo - What if Switch sells out completely?

Nintendo stated that 2 million units of the Switch will be shipped within the first month. We know these numbers and they're not too out of reach considering both 3DS and Wii U sold around the same amount at launch.

Will this artificial scarcity and understocking talk be put to an end completely if they also report that all of those 2 million were sold within the first weeks? Because that would mean that every Switch was shipped and sold through properly.

It will likely sell out, but that won't end the "narrative".

In the wilderness we go alone with our new knowledge and strength.

It should manage to sell 2 million globally in it's first few weeks with ease, you're saying it like it's a phenomenal achievement.

If they didn't sell through 2 million stock in the first 3-4 weeks I'd be very worried.

IF they can't sell 2 million first month i would call this a bad start too

If the combination of zelda, a mario platformer and mario kart were enough to make a console succesful then the gamecube and the wii-u woudn't have failed.

No one is doubting a good launch or a good first year, it's the rest that matters.

We will have to see how it fares in some months or an entire year. Every console manages to sell out and perform well in the launch.

It seems pré orders are not really high in Europe, you can still pre order Switch almost everywhere and they éven cut thé prices everywhere in France to help it

Predictions for end of 2014 HW sales:

 PS4: 17m   XB1: 10m    WiiU: 10m   Vita: 10m

Well Europe was WiiU's weakest territory by a mile. So that wouldn't be too surprising.

You are always going to get critics.  You just are.  But let's say in worst case scenario Nintendo is creating false demand.  Ultimately, it doesn't matter to me, and I don't care.  I have enough of a life outside of video games to where worrying about Nintendo's intentions is such a trivia issue in a 1st world country.  It the Switch turns out to be a great enough console with content, it's gonna sell, and those who want it will get one.  I think 2 million is a good number, and selling out near instantly I take it as a good sign.

There was no price point giving by Nintendo when it came to Europe. People who got it first at 329 euro got rip by the retailers lol.

It's now at the expected price of 299-300 euro.

329 EUR matches the UK Price point of £280, that's why I'd assume that was the intended price.
