Tekken 7 PS4 file size is a shocker

The download for Tekken 7 is a big one, particularly for a fighting game. Comparing it to Street Fighter V it's a beast!

The Tekken 7 PS4 file size is far bigger than expected for a fighting game.

Bandai Namco’s fighter, due for release on PS4, Xbox One and PC on June 2, 2017 will weigh in at at least 45GB, according to the UK PlayStation Store pre-order listing.

Compare that to Street Fighter V for PS4, where the initial download was just 12.4GB! That suggests that the developer is pushing the boat out for it latest entry in the Tekken series in terms of both content and visuals!

Tekken 7 is based on the arcade version of the game, called Tekken 7 Fated Retribution, and introduces new features to the series, including Rage Arts and Tailspin. There’s also some new characters lined up, such as Lucky Chloe and Gigas. Check out the Tekken 7 story trailer for more details.

That just means DLC will only be 100kb :)

If you demand respect or gratitude for your volunteer work, you're doing volunteering wrong.

And then there's Zelda BotW at about 13 GB.

The fact that the game is so huge in terms of GBs is not an indicative of quantity of quality. If anything, it is a testament on how bad and neglected optimization and compression have got nowadays.

Well, yes, and no.  The game is actually large, but at the same time, you're going to want to be able to see other costumes and things that other people have purchased.  Yes, the DLC will most likely be 100kb unlock keys, but don't expect 30GB of it to be DLC, lol.

Pre-rendered scenes no doubt take up a majority of that file size.  There's also the story mode.  The game has a lot of content.  TTT2 on PS3 was around the 18 GB mark.   One would expect the PS4 game to be bigger.

Well to be fair it does have quadruple the content of SFV

Tekken games usually include a lot of extra stuff, like for example, full CGI endings for all characters. If it's anything like as lot of games, a lot of it will be those and sound files.

Hmm, pie.

Mortal Kombat X is also 45GB or so on PC. I suspect Tekken has a ton of FMVs just like MKX

I predict that the Wii U will sell a total of 18 million units in its lifetime.

The NX will be a 900p machine

45 gig of no anna williams...

But this is a full game, not a beta like SF V.
