i'm pretty sure they've already thought about special edition joy-cons.

People think games get them money...heh, it'll be hilarious seeing joycons go for even more than what they're worth if they ever have a special edition

When (if) you need extra Joy-Cons in the future, you may as well have color options.

I wont cause even if I somehow get local multiplayer going (ha!), I'd rather get Pro Controllers.

What if they release joycons with removable button configuration. That way you could place d-pad for single player and face buttons for 2 player mode

 

The Joy-Cons are removable and a Nintendo patent shows different button and D-pad configurations. They are probably coming.
