And this is exactly what was said in the "mistranslation". So what's the point of this thread exactly?
Predictions for LT console sales:

I really don't think a 3ds successor is necessary at this point. Hybrid devices should be Nintendo's future. Hybrid devices or 2 devices that share the exact same OS at least and have compatible architectures and can talk to each other in a decent manner.

No?
The "mistranslation" from the tweet states that they're considering a successor to the 3DS, however many people semt to think it was being under heavy consideration by Nintendo. This clarifies that it's just PR talk, and they're very likely not seriously considering it or developing it, the point is to further reinforce that the 3DS will still exist alongside the Switch in 2017 as a budget oriented variant with a fleshed out library.

Thats clearly just your opinion on it. The "mistranslation" said that Kimishima and Nintendo were considering a 3DS successor. This translation says the same thing with a few more details. The title of this thread is misleading and should be changed. There was no mistranslation, they just added a few details which don't change their stance on it. Their still considering it.

I still dont get it. Why not just say YES, SWITCH IS 3DS SUCCESSOR? Isnt it a better statement to win your 3ds fanbase? Whats the harm of saying switch will be getting 3ds treatment? Whyd he have to confuse everyone with this statement?
Duh. Switch mini will come, but will still be a switch.
In the wilderness we go alone with our new knowledge and strength.
Are people even reading this? He did say it. He said they are different markets and they are considering it. Wich was what the article said. I don't even know what was mistranslated.
There will be a 3DS sucessor. Stop lieing to yourselves.
This thread is spreading msinformation with the baity title.

This is why people are going crazy over the Switch, they can't quite decide which part of Nintendo's market is doomed again.

I don't quite know how one can miss this, but here you go:
" He concluded by saying that there is a different demand and market for 3DS as a portable system from Switch, and for a next handheld, Nintendo will keep considering it as always. "

"Nintendo will keep considering it as always."
"We are always thinking about it"
This pretty clearly shows that a 3DS successor is in consideration as much as it was beforehand. A 3DS successor theoretically could happen, but this doesn't mean it's under heavy consideration or development; which most people thought it did. These "little details" provide a bigger context of the statement - considering that they've previously talked about the 3DS being a budget variant with a 1000 game library it only makes sense to provide an open ended conclusion to keep that market alive until they milk it dry.
The same was said with the Wii U and the Switch and the Gameboy and DS. Nothing points to it ever coming to fruitition and that tweet was a mistranslation / misunderstanding that people thought meant something more than it actually did.
