This clarifies that it's just PR talk, and they're very likely not seriously considering it or developing it, the point is to further reinforce that the 3DS will still exist alongside the Switch in 2017 as a budget oriented variant with a fleshed out library.

Thats clearly just your opinion on it. The "mistranslation" said that Kimishima and Nintendo were considering a 3DS successor. This translation says the same thing with a few more details. The title of this thread is misleading and should be changed. There was no mistranslation, they just added a few details which don't change their stance on it. Their still considering it.
