Forums - Nintendo - IGN: Hands on with Deadly Creatures

http://wii.ign.com/articles/863/863974p1.html

April 2, 2008 - We've been wholeheartedly intrigued by the concept powering Deadly Creatures, a Rainbow Studios-created action-adventure set to debut exclusively for Wii this October, ever since it was revealed. In the decidedly dark game, you take on the roles of a deadly tarantula and a venomous scorpion, which creep, crawl and fight their way through underground passages, across desert landscapes and, for one reason or another, into manmade structures, too. The announcement trailer for the project, which premiered in February, offered only a glimpse into its atmospheric universe, specifically spotlighting a couple of cinematics. It all looked very good, of course, but the footage left some Wii owners wondering how the premise might actually translate into gameplay. Now, though, we've played and we can absolutely confirm that there's much more to Deadly Creatures than you've seen so far and we think you'll be pleasantly surprised with the experience waiting.

I'm cautiously optimistic about this one. They seem to be putting a lot of work into it....and I loved the original ATV Off-Road Fury (developed by the same company)....so I think this will be a good sleeper hit.

I just hope that there is a lot of variety to the gameplay....maybe some upgrades. They have said their level design will be in the Metroidvania style, meaning you get new abilities to reach new areas as the game progresses. Hopefully they'll deliver.

I just read this. If it gets decent reviews I will buy it. My kids will definitely like it.

That's the thing about this game.  The premise doesn't really make it sound that great, but if its implementation is up to par, it may turn out well overall.

I really like the concept. It's something new and original. That's a fairly rare thing now-a-days.

I'm a mod, come to me if there's mod'n to do.

Chrizum is the best thing to happen to the internet, Period.

Serves me right for challenging his sales predictions!

Bet with dsisister44: Red Steel 2 will sell 1 million within it's first 365 days of sales.

Nice concept, I will wait and see for this ones...

the game seems quite intriguing. I should look into this game. The concept seems cool and ign so far seem to like it. Hope it's good

at first i thought deadly creatures was crap, but know its looking interesting

I was also cautiously optimistic about this game when I first heard of it. It's good to see that there's at least a serious effort behind it, and enough coolness to impress grumpy old gaming journalists.

The Wii has no shortage of top rate exclusives, but needs more 75-90 rated games to fill up the library.
