Forums - Gaming - PSN brings in more money than all of Nintendo

Revenue don't mean jack compared to profit. Nintendo as a game company has made 4x the profit of sonys entire business... I vring up profit because that's what keeps investors invested in your company.

That's not really true.  Revenue can be a very important factor for investors.  High-revenue, low-profit businesses can be very attractive investments when they're predicated on cash flow and growth.  Look at Amazon, a company that basically ignores profit.  They care more about revenue streams than about margins.  That's more attractive than a company that has high margins but is growing slowly or not at all.

So do we actually have data that shows nintendo made more profit than sony last holiday?

Well, but it was about PSN vs Steam and not about physical discs. Not sure why you all quote me to tell me how you can buy a physical copy somewhere when it was about digital deals^^

Even for digital deals, Steam isn't so impressive anymore. I use both PC and PS4/Vita, and usually I look at both Steam and PSN. Steam isn't always the best place to buy digital games, PSN now has some pretty impressive deals every week. It just depends on the game you're looking for.

That's why I said that the good thing about Steam is that you can buy games also in other stores for Steam or buy DRM free games and just connect them with your Steam account to have it in your library. Even if you count only all digital marketplaces for PC who support Steam and not those who sell DRM free games you will find on average many more and better deals as on PSN because that's after all only one single marketplace against PC with a lot of marketplaces supporting one platform with Steam.

Really? You didn't mention that before.

The good thing on PC is that you don't only have to look at Steam sales to get good deals for games on Steam or you buy a DRM free game and connect it to your Steam library so yeah, PC is superior to deals on console even if one service doesn't have great deals for some time.

The only reason you don't want to count physical sales is because the PC has none, but that's disingenuous to one of the advantages console has! So you may be able to find better digital sales for a platform that's... digital only, but I bet I could find better sales physically in many many cases. If you don't want to acknowledge that a thrifty user will be able to save money no matter what, then you're too biased for this discussion.

I automatically mentioned that with whom I replied to. I don't have to mention it's not about physical if I quote someone who speaks about digital

So no, that's not the reason why I didn't mention physical discs, I didn't mention them because I quoted someone speaking about PSN and Steam.

Maybe you are too biased to interfere in a discussion between me and someone else without giving a shit what it even was about.

Just don't accuse me for something even if I never even thought about it just because you want to let this be a part of it.

And now back to topic please.

All that poster said was PSN sales had been better for them than steam lately. You took it upon yourself to reply and talk about how there's other storefronts the PC has to get games cheaply, and then you asserted that the best deals are had on PC. At no point was it made clear that brick and mortar/physical/used stores don't count for the sake of this arguement but again, it's disingenuous to claim that PC has the best software sales while excluding the fact that console gamers have multiple means to find games cheaper too. I guess my bias would be in trying to make this a seemingly fair arguement.

Just shows you the insane spending being done on ps4. The thing is a goldmine for Sony and all the third party developers. It will only increase this year too.

So much money from people that's being ripped off on a yearly basis and don't even care about it. But enjoy all that devalued software that's being thrown at you I guess.

Are you able to elaborate?
