Crytek heard you... for some reason my "Ryse" version got much more colorful:
I disagree. It's been the push for realism in games that has caused it to become boring and stale for me. Unless someone can both innovate gameplay AND push for photo realism, I don't want to see it.
Besides... I play games, in part, to escape stress. Playing something realistic is not escaping said stress. It's continuing it.

I'm tired of games like bloodborne, doom and the arkham knight being labeled as realistic, when real life is not just about gritty and depressing shit. That's the point. |
I'm not sure I've ever heard Bloodborne being called realistic. It's firmly rooted in horror and fantasy, both in terms of theme and graphical style.
Implying that those images (aside from originally being unedited photographs) are realistic...

There is a VAST difference. Realisitic looking games are games that have things that look real. That they actually exist, or could exist etc. Realisitic games are ones that are non-fiction basically. I can easily imagine any game including that field of roses... followed by a UFO landing there and aliens piling out. |
I can too and that sounds awsem! Now i want to play the UFO/Alien filled field of roses game so feckin bad!
