Are the games usually arriving the same day as they do release in retails ? Cause I might get myself a Prime membership just to get these discounts next year. |
With Prime it's usually guaranteed 2 day shipping. So as of now, Zelda on Switch is slated on my account to ship on the 1st of March and be in my mailbox by the 3rd. I haven't really bought games at launch for a long time so I don't know if this timeframe is guaranteed.
But it's worth it for the discounts alone, I got zelda for $48.

Everything I ordered in the US came on release day (or in a few rare instances before). At least in the US, they try to guarantee release day delivery.
That being said, you're in Canada, right? They may have a different policy. I just moved to Canada myself, and things I order almost always come next day, but I live right next to a fulfillment center so I may just be lucky. It's a good time to get prime regardless, pretty sure they just added the 20% discount on new releases, and with the exchange rate prime subscriptions here are a lot cheaper than in the US.

The short answer is it isn't.

You can get this same deal at Best Buy. All new physical software is 20% off with Gamer's Club unlocked membership, which is $15 per year (must join for two years). So, if the only thing you care about is game discounts, BB is the cheaper way to get them. They also don't limit it to new releases (I believe Amazon does).
With Best Buy, you can pick up in store, or get release day delivery. I understand that Amazon does release day delivery reliably too.
