Great to see Nintendo's console do well.

Its Impressive people still want to play 34 year old games on such a dated system.

Even more so that they are willing to pay 140$ for it (which is hellva overpriced).

Even more so when you consider today everything and anything is able to run emulated game versions just as well.

$140 is still a good deal for a system that comes with 30 games.

Super Mario Bro 1,2,3. Double Dragon 2, Mega Man 2.

All decent games still today... however their the kinde that shouldnt cost more than 1$ or so.

The hardware cant cost nintendo more than 20$ to make.

I honestly dont feel that 140$ is a "good deal".

Its nintendo screwing over the consumers.

Wasn't the NES Mini priced $60 at first though? So who raised the price? Nintendo or retailers?

And I think there's a lot of people who don't want to bother emulating because they think it's too hard or something, I don't know. Plus it's physical and looks cool.

Anyway, the way prices work is that you find a good balance between demand, supply and price. If customers are buying the NES en masse at $140 then you can't blame Nintendo for asking such a price.

The Snes Mini should be released at $100-150 if it ever comes out. This is a goldmine for Nintendo lol.

Would be funny if the NES won Feb NPD.

Nintendo underpriced this system at an RRP of $60. They threw away a lot of money with this, because people are clearly willing to pay much more than $60. Nintendo could have set the RRP at $99, that would have still been more than fair.

And my PS4 cost $400 and came with no games!

On a serious note, it's the same old argument of the value of a product. The cost of making the product really has little bearing of it's value. For instance if somebody made a giant heap of dog shit that cost $1M to put together, what value would you put on it?

Now if somebody came up with a medicine that cost 10 cents per tablet to make but cured serious illnesses, how much value would you put on that?

Of course these are extreme examples but it gets the point across.

We all have an opinion of how much something is worth but the value of a product is usually determined by supply and demand. High demand = higher prices. Low supply = higher prices. High demand + low supply = very high prices. Low demand + high supply = price cuts.

It won't because looking at the list of retailers, I am pretty dang sure none of these are actual "new" sales.  A massive chunk are assclowns reselling stock they gobbled up months ago and then were stuck with cause it turns out, no, you cannot sell an emulator box in droves for $300, not even during the Holidays.
