Forums - Nintendo - Nintendo Switch online priced at 2000-3000 yen yearly ($17.50 - $26.50 USD)

It looks to me like Nintendo is looking to not lose money on the online features, not make a big profit. That's a welcome change from the way they're pricing some of the accessories.

It's not worth my money either way unless they start handing out things that are not like, NES or SNES games, which can be done on any computing device these days with the ability to play online already. I don't need parental services, voice chat is not a big deal, and I don't play anything online other than Mario Kart even on the Wii U or spectate Smash Bros these days, and I doubt that'd change for the Switch so, they are not gonna get my money with that one.

Even if it's $20 in the west that's £15 a year, essentially £1.25 a month, that's a slick price.

So, paid online is bad, but cheap online is worse because the quality will be compromised? Hadn't we decided that paid online was not necessary and that companies only charged for it because were evil, greedy corporations?

It's a greedy move by Nintendo.

I guess that's...tolerable. Still not very enthusiastic about paying for something that should be free.

Good on Nintendo.

Let's see how many subscriptions they get.

Wow, that's.. actually a pretty good price. I was expecting much worse.

Might have to do with locking Voice chat behind the pay wall.

Or needing a phone and an app to use it.

Or that you only get one game a month - and don't get to keep it.

Or the MASS amount of confusion about everything involved.  Yeah probably that one since no one has a clue what is going on, and Nintendo doesn't care to make it clear.

So what part of that deserves "catching a break"?

Why would you even need voice chat if you can't play games online?

12 SNES games x $8 = $96

What are you complaining about?

No one but Nintendo thinks SNES roms are fairly priced at $8.

So $20-30 a year!? That's basically half price of one game, not bad at all.

Here in Australia for 1 year:
XBL: $80
PSN : $70

If I compared it to the US dollars of XBl and PSN (which is $20 more)I think the Switch price would be:
Switch : $40 - $50

Very good price and much lower than the 2!
