I´d rather have a console break and be fixed than waiting for games... but thats just me... btw: I have an extra cooler in my 360 so I don´t worry about RRoD to much... but you never know... still I play as long as I want to...
Is cooling the the only problem? If so I'll buy the cooler kit with my new 360 and a 3 year warranty. That will quench my fears.

From what I have heard yes heat is the problem causing RRoD... the cooler kits are supposed to be pretty good as well but I have and extra cooler inside the 360 to get all the hot air directly out of it... its quiet and my 360 never gets hot... even after hours of gaming...

The subject of this thread is completely irrelevant.
You obviously cant read. I wanted advice.

You obviously don't know what you're talking about. The subject praises the 360's games and yet you're seeking help on whether or not to buy a 360 due to the RRoD problem.

On a slightly related note, I've had my 360 for awhile and whenever I got the RRoD(about twice), I'd just unplug and replug in my console and BAM, gone.

Are you all there? I have a 360. I'm fed up with the issue. NOW IT's AFFECTING ME. Why come in this thread if ou have nothing constructive to say for me? Jeez.

I personaly wouldn't get a 360 until i'm sure than the hardware issues have been resolved ( i'm thinking this is going to require changes in the 360's interal architecture).

But yah get a PS3 then get a 360 in dec when the issues will proly be fixed.

What do the 360s games have to do with this issue?

You'll never be guaranteed that your 360 won't break, the same as buying any console/commercial good, or anything money can buy (money can buy everything exluding dinosaurs, (Simpsons)).

As long as you keep all of your receipts, you should be fine with the RRoD issue.
I mentioned games because for me thats what I play consoles for. (Not owning a favourite console). My point was even I am fed up with it. I am considering leaving it like a year then buying a 360 again. In the meantime just playing less games and getting a PS3 earlier than I wanted to. I understand theres no guarentee but is the situation any better than it was say 8 months ago?

I'd say it's definatly better. I remember a few months ago when hundreds of people coming out saying that they
"were on their 8th 360" (most of which never owned one), you don't get stories like that anymore. The latest
problem I've heard about was when that kid got his 360 cleaned, which meant that he had a tech issue.

Oh, and you could always get a PS3 anyways ;) It gets the "First Annual Montgomery Burns Award for Outstanding Achievement in the Field of Excellence".

I really haven't seen any hard numbers saying the new consoles are more reliable, but then again I haven't seen any hard numbers saying they are as unreliable as the old ones.

From a technical standpoint, they will generate less heat, but it is uncertain whether or not that can overcome some of the initial design flaws in significantly decreasing the reliability issue.

If you decide to take the PS3 plunge, take advantage of this offer to save $100:

I have signed up for the card myself, and I encountered no tricks/problems while taking advantage of the deal (it was the $150 deal last year). They added the credit to my card within 2 weeks of the purchase, and I paid it off immediately after that with no problems. It has 12 months with 0% interest, just make sure you pay your minimum payment.

We had two bags of grass, seventy-five pellets of mescaline, five sheets of high-powered blotter acid, a salt shaker half full of cocaine, a whole galaxy of multi-colored uppers, downers, screamers, laughers…Also a quart of tequila, a quart of rum, a case of beer, a pint of raw ether and two dozen amyls.  The only thing that really worried me was the ether.  There is nothing in the world more helpless and irresponsible and depraved than a man in the depths of an ether binge. –Raoul Duke

It is hard to shed anything but crocodile tears over White House speechwriter Patrick Buchanan's tragic analysis of the Nixon debacle. "It's like Sisyphus," he said. "We rolled the rock all the way up the mountain...and it rolled right back down on us...."  Neither Sisyphus nor the commander of the Light Brigade nor Pat Buchanan had the time or any real inclination to question what they were doing...a martyr, to the bitter end, to a "flawed" cause and a narrow, atavistic concept of conservative politics that has done more damage to itself and the country in less than six years than its liberal enemies could have done in two or three decades. -Hunter S. Thompson

Don't cooler kits void Microsoft's warranty?

The falcon chipset has been out what, 6 or 7 months? I haven't seen many reports of falcons with RRoD. I purchased my Pro in January (it was manufactured in Dec), it's a falcon and has a BenQ drive. It definitely runs cooler and quieter than the older models.

Get a PS3 instead. PS3 is ten times better than the XBox 360.

Completed X360:
High Def Movie Collection

Buy a PS3 it has elite graphics that are a lot  better than the XBox 360. PS3 has better games and does not fail.
