Forums - Microsoft - 360 has best games but......

As you know I couldnt care less which console I have as long as I play the best array of games. Well my concern with the 360 as of tonight is reliability. I know RRoD has been around since launch, but it's really started to affect me and my mates now properly. My mates Elite (8 months old) died tonight. His second machine. I'm on my second (although need a new one cause my daughter spilt juice in it), but am feeling reluctant to purchase straight away unless I can have some hard evidence that if I buy new Elite the problem is pretty much non existant. I'm seriously considering purchasing a PS3 earlier than I wanted to. Even if it means waiting ages for games I want to purchase.( I'd buy like 3 with it max, then wait till end of year. Is the RRoD gone from consoles that are brand new in stores now. Show me link for proof. Cause this is Pi**ing me off.

I think ms has calmed the problem but it still exsists and will likely exsist througout the 360's lifespan.

What do the 360s games have to do with this issue?

You'll never be guaranteed that your 360 won't break, the same as buying any console/commercial good, or anything money can buy (money can buy everything exluding dinosaurs, (Simpsons)).

As long as you keep all of your receipts, you should be fine with the RRoD issue.

The failure rate has decreased with the newer models but the problem is still there. You have a 3 year warranty with the console so that should allay your fears somewhat.

I´d rather have a console break and be fixed than waiting for games... but thats just me... btw: I have an extra cooler in my 360 so I don´t worry about RRoD to much... but you never know... still I play as long as I want to...

I mentioned games because for me thats what I play consoles for. (Not owning a favourite console). My point was even I am fed up with it. I am considering leaving it like a year then buying a 360 again. In the meantime just playing less games and getting a PS3 earlier than I wanted to. I understand theres no guarentee but is the situation any better than it was say 8 months ago?

The subject of this thread is completely irrelevant.

Is cooling the the only problem? If so I'll buy the cooler kit with my new 360 and a 3 year warranty. That will quench my fears.

You obviously don't know what you're talking about. The subject praises the 360's games and yet you're seeking help on whether or not to buy a 360 due to the RRoD problem.

On a slightly related note, I've had my 360 for awhile and whenever I got the RRoD(about twice), I'd just unplug and replug in my console and BAM, gone.
