Forums - Politics - New US envoy to UN 'We're taking names'

I guess the only real comfort from this is that the US isn't the only one who will eat the crap sandwich. We're going to make sure the rest of the world eats it too. So all those guys not from the US who are applauding Trump... open wide. You're getting some of this too.

That is crazy. In 7 days as the President, Trump already have problems with China, Mexico and, now,  is trying to get problems with the UN.

I think of all those problems ^^^ blasting the UN is what I agree with.

Rather useless entity..

trump made a big deal during the campain suggesting he might not come to the aid of NATO countries that don't fullfil their financial obligations...

...these days i wonder if any NATO country will come to our defence or if they'll be too pissed off at us to care.

Well this kind of stuff will maybe at least motivate EU to start really built a army, a real foreigh policy and getting closer to China.

USA is the only superpower but they seem to forget that EU is an economic superpower and China a emerging one. I don't get how USA can deteriorate relations with them and replace it by Russia/UK.

That won't be a issue. The US will most likely back out of that. Otherwise Russia will have issues taking over the EU. Wouldn't be shocked if the US actually helps in this endeavor.

The U.N. is a dream wrapped behind corruption. The amount of sex scandals and human rights violations they are a part of or ignore is enough to have made me dismiss the organization for years.

Besides, nearly a 1/3 of the U.N. is funded by the U.S. It's not like we are reliant on them or anything. More like the otherway around. Many time we have forces somewhere and 90+% of them are our own and the U.N. has a pathetic representation. Even when it's a U.N. issue and not us instigating it at all.

How can Russia take over the EU ? France has nuclear weapon that would be crazy to attack EU with that kind of threat. Plus if EU feels threaten and start a arms race a doubt Russia has the economic power to be able to compete. Russia doesn't have anything to win to attack EU best case scenario (and I don't believe in it) they win the war after losing a shitone of men and money.

I think it's hard to deny that we're living in exciting times :p it's like a sitcom that's become reality.

US backing. Trump and Putin will more than likely team up on this.

I don't see Russia winning a war against EU unless there is a direct intervention of US troops and I find hard to believe that american citizens would die to make war to europeans for Russia.  Honestly I think that a war between EU and Russia is very unlikely because both would loose too much.  However without NATO Russia has much more room to take countries that were inside the USSR and are not in the EU such as Georgia etc.
