They actually have mentioned very little about their online so far. It's all very strange.

Its not strange. It will suck ass, so they dont talk about it to avoid more bad press.

Hahaha probably. To be fair though I've never had a problem using Wii u online, browser Netflix, youtube and Mario Kart and my kid playing splatoon online. But I never played any games like COD where voice chat would be good. Infact did games like COD have Vonce chat on Wii u?

Well, that'd be good. Certainly would paint a better picture of them when it comes to managing their online ecosystem.

Thinking about it, if the mobile app ends up being optional it would be regarded as a very much convinient and clever option provided by Nintendo, since you're most likely going to play online on the go via your smartphone's hotspot, so you can organize it all on your phone and play instantly after that, or perhaps to save battery you wouldn't need to even turn it on until you confirm your friends are going to be playing, or managing them without the system on you.

This sounds all cool and nice, but until we have confirmation, or the mobile app ends up being necessary, it would just have the total opposite effect of what you're describing.

From information released by Nintendo we can assumed it's all the time.

Well I just kinda assumed it was so obvious that there home console connects online and has everything available on the console that it wouldn't be worth wondering but people may wonder how it would connect ton WiFi when out and about, and the answer been by tethering to your smart device and using app. Why would it need to tether when docked? Unless it doest have a WiFi reciever?? But surely not.

Trying to off load as much as possible so things can be streamed line for gaming, that or theyre using this to push their mobile gaming divison further.

Well.. anyone has a smartphone today and I really don´t see any problem with the possibility of arranging online matches using some sort of app. Even better if it´s optional.

Which is sad, Nintendo should really be more clear on this information, since it's considered mandatory on other consoles and PC. We'll find out soon enough hopefully.

"It is also interesting that only a single game module is required for local games. Up to eight players can then participate in their consoles without each having to purchase their own version."

Fuck YES! YES YES! DS all over again!

I've said elsewhere that I really don't believe that Nintendo would be clueless enough to require you to use another device in order to use their product effectively. I just can't imagine they would do something like that. These are intelligent business people. There has to be at least the shell of a functional option on-system.

Of course, that would mean they are clueless at communication, but that's another subject.

Well, we already knew that, didn't we? Lol.

I said it since day 1, people need to wait before Nintendo has announced everything there is to announce. I never believed matchmaking and voice chat would be through a mobile app only. It makes no sense.

If it was then Nintendio would have said so since they keep on saying its a home console.

Maybe its just to get the word out there an see the response. They saw the negative responses soooo maybe they are changing something to it.
