Forums - Nintendo - Certain online features on the Switch might not be limited to smartphone app after all

Friend managment -

Nintendo UK specifications page -

From the HOME Menu, you can start games and select game settings. In addition to managing friends and user accounts, you can also change your system settings here. "

Voice chat (speculation) -

Nintendo UK Specifications website -

"For connecting commercially available headphones, microphones, or headsets"

And OBE1 who is so far almost spot on, he got the charging time wayyy off, but the rest is suprisingly accurate -

Apparently Nintendo wants you to use wired headphones on the go to save battery life and wireless while docked. Joy-Cons use BT 3.1, though the system itself has BT 4.1, which could indicate they opted for the newer version so you could pair BT headphones that also use BT 4.1?

And match - making (though creating lobbies with friends isn't confirmed by the following) -

http://gematsu.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/01/USF2_01-24-17_004.jpg

"There are four types of Ranked Matches:

Quick Match – Searches for players able to fight without setting any conditions.
Custom Match – Set conditions and search for a player that you want to fight against.
Create Match – Create a lobby where you set the battle rules and such, and wait for the players that you want to fight against to join.
Friend Match – Searches for players that you can fight against now from your registered friends list."

Credit to Gematsu, Nintendo UK and a fistful of NeoGAF users.

Also, a download play like feature is confirmed for up to 8 players via LAN -

"It is also interesting that only a single game module is required for local games. Up to eight players can then participate in their consoles without each having to purchase their own version."

I thought the mobile phone app was for when out and About? Not when connected to home WiFi or am I missing something?

Yes, the idea of a headset has been floating around and I totally see this happening

If it was then Nintendio would have said so since they keep on saying its a home console.

I've said elsewhere that I really don't believe that Nintendo would be clueless enough to require you to use another device in order to use their product effectively. I just can't imagine they would do something like that. These are intelligent business people. There has to be at least the shell of a functional option on-system.

Of course, that would mean they are clueless at communication, but that's another subject.

From information released by Nintendo we can assumed it's all the time.

Well I just kinda assumed it was so obvious that there home console connects online and has everything available on the console that it wouldn't be worth wondering but people may wonder how it would connect ton WiFi when out and about, and the answer been by tethering to your smart device and using app. Why would it need to tether when docked? Unless it doest have a WiFi reciever?? But surely not.
