Forums - Sony - The SIXAXIS officially discontinued-- HOORAY!

I will probably replace my sixaxis with a dualshock

Around the Network

ill buy a dualshock but im keeping my sixaxis, even tho getting angry at games and throwing it across the room have stopped the led lights from working, ill look past it.

hey dogweed, same thing happened to me! Another of my Sixaxis controllers have the PS button stuck a little, so whenever i press, i have to somehow pop it up again. Only my third sixaxis has no problems whatsoever. hopefully sixaxis will be on sale, ill buy a few considering i dont care for rumble

Well in Aus, They give a SIXAXIS away with a game for $99 when you purchase a PS3, I always saw that as a way of clearing stock haha. It was still a good deal, but kind of shifty lol, I'll take a 2nd game any day, even a crappy one.

....not that it will solve all of the problems the craptacular sixaxis has though.

Hopefully there will no longer be any signal drops for the early adopters (20/60gb units), as well as a longer lifespan for the controller (mine has started to exhibit strange behaviors in the 'home' menu - not responding to any commands).

However, the dualshock 3 probably won't fix the fact that Sony has the least accurate analog sticks (except for maybe the nunchuck...but at least we have the wiimote as a pointer there) and that the overall design of the controller should have been re-hauled years ago (this is, what, a 13 year old design? I want the boomerang!)

I'll still have to get one though, since my sixaxis is dying. I don't care about rumble though; I always turn it off first thing when I buy a game/console.

You can't be serious...you want the boomerang? I hated just looking at that thing...I don't think the dualshock needs a re-haul...I like the analog design.

I thinked it might have worked if they worked on the analog stick placement.  Actually, I really wish they'd use their D-pad + buttons with Microsoft's analog sticks/controller shell.  That would be the ultimate traditional controller.

I like the analog sticks the way they are. The analog sticks for the 360 are way to sensitive in games like tiger woods 08 so Sony should create a grip type outercoating for the DS3 so your hands wont sweat a lot while using it. I dont wanna buy the grip covers you can get from gamestop.

And since when did MTV start getting all these game news stories?  They've already ruined music I don't want them to ruin games too.

Nah, that's G4's job. ;)

Rumble doesn't bother me.

Looks like im going to BigW and buying 4 Sixaxxis when they drop in price.

Yay! Time for good... I mean not as bad controllers.

I really didn't mind not having rumble. Until I played Burnout Paradise on BOTH the PS3 and Xbox 360. That changed my mind.
