Forums - Microsoft - Resident Evil (XBONE vs PC) - Xbox One S > PC

A little background.  I have a $4500 PC with a $1000 3440x1440 monitor..  I've been playing Resident Evil on this PC and my Xbox One S with a 65" Samsung KS8000...  (Play anywhere is amazing).  Hands down, Xbox wins.  You can argue about resolution all day long but sharper textures LOSE to the xbox one with HDR....  I don't even care about the game, I just want to walk around and look at stuff when I play on the bone.

The lighting and shadows are AMAZING.  I am only about 2 hours into the game but I will gladly give up the increased resolution of the PC for the look of the Xbox version....  I sure hope the PS4 fans are looking at what I am because this is awesome...

On the other side of thinking....  I can't wait for my PC to support true HDR...  Or more Xbox games for that matter...

I don't think we have enough PC gamers on this site to make this thread a thing, sorry :-/

I have the same TV. What's your picture settings? I'm still not as impressed with HDR as I would like.

Both lose to psvr...
tv's and monitors are so last century :p

I have it in game mode with all power saving settings turned off and pretty close to the settings on Rtings.com.  I adjusted the HDR settings in game to what is recommended and I had to turn the brighness down as it was searing my retinas in certain scenes...

Dahuman....  If I cared about making this "A thing" I wouldn't post it here...  You came here... And posted...  Its a "thing".

You certainly have my curiousity up...  If it looks like this I want to play it...  I doubt the Lighting and shadows are as close but I'm willing to check it out.

Anyone not convinced about HDR should check out the last episode of "Sneaky Pete" in a dark room....  Some of the scenes with a flashlight are awesome...

The psvr oled screen easily beats my 1080p projector for colors and contrast, but it's not HDR. The shadows look great but it also does a lot of dynamic light level adjustments when going in and out of dark areas, like the old way to simulate HDR.

But I gladly trade in resolution, detail and HDR for being inside the game. Going back in now, needed a little tea break. Can't drink with the headset on, minor inconvenience, yet good excuse to calm the nerves a bit lol.

HDR is the biggest leap in traditional displays in my lifetime. It is awesome how much better HDR makes everything look. Going from SD to HD, and 1080 to 4K where both unimpressive to me, but HDR really is just pure beauty.

As was said above, RE7 on PSVR is the ultimate experience though. You simply can not compare, playing a game on a screen, to living an experience in VR.

I really hope we get PSVR 2 with 1440 and HDR on PS4 Spec 3 by 2020. Putting the beauty of HDR, along side the transformative experience of VR is going to truly take everything to another level.

They didn't even encounter any monsaters, but already scared the crap out of each other, for no good reason. xD

Also, comments like these make me intrigued about playing the game in VR:

lol I was watching his twitch stream, it was pretty funny
