Forums - Gaming - Unique AAA Games, And Unique Game Aspects

What are some completely or mostly unique triple A games? What I mean by that is games that mostly consist of elements not seen at all or very rarely in other major games? Doesn't have to be the entire game, but perhaps an aspect that is unseen in other major games.

Some examples would be: comedy aspects from Conker's Bad Fur Day,  boss monster climbing (not unique but very rare) in Shadow of the Colossus, the way you control two characters at the same time which also alows for unique gameplay and puzzle design in Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons. Also feel free to bring up games that are not unique themselves but include an aspect that is almost completely unique such as the Nemesis system in Shadow of Mordor.

What are some unique games like that are pretty much one of a kind in some aspect? Especially things you would like to see more of?

Gothic 1-3. The unique aspect is being a good open world RPG.

If you demand respect or gratitude for your volunteer work, you're doing volunteering wrong.

Bayonetta games. Can you show me scary looking Angel creatures with cherub like faces that speak in tongue politely as the enemy? A game you beat both heaven and hell using giant frogs birds dragons Arwings,Varia Suits? You fight a boss while two giants in the background mimic yours and his movements?

Folklore - You fight enemies, capture their souls and they become your fighting techniques, not sure if this has been done since really. (great game no one played)

Hmm, pie.

In fps department, borderland series and its unique weapons. There are so many variations on how weapon behaves in this game. Guns that turn into a grenade after each reload; grenades that can heal your team or make blackhole that pulls enemies; insane and funny bullet velocity/pattern.

Eternal Darkness - The sanity meter that screws with the player and that you play as like 12 characters throughout the game.

Killzone's multiplayer. i havent played a FPS online like it. its warzone consists of 7 objectives/missions that a team must achieve. there is no specific order to them, and who ever wins the most objectives wins. it offers a really dynamic system that makes every game feel unique.

starhawk. a fantastic blend between RTS and TPS. it was obviously held back by the limitations of the PS3. but it was a great experience none the less. the low sales and little community killed it though. but i did enjoy it quite a bit.

Doom. sadly there isnt any other major FPS's like it on the market now days.

Never heard of this one. So your fighting technique keeps changing completely during the game, or does it just add more options?

Another example I can add is, the way you control two characters at the same time which also alows for unique puzzle design in Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons. (I'll add it to OP)

Yes, this. Not just the sanity meter but the 4th wall breaking to mess with the player. The only other notable example of that is Psycho Mantis from MGS. I have high hopes for Death Stranding in that regard.
