Forums - Gaming - When did DLC started to go so wrong?

DLC has mostly improved, in my opinion. Different studios have tried different things to see what worked best. Some bad, some good, but now I'm pretty much pleased with it.

I buy DLC that appeals to me, I don't buy DLC that doesn't appeal to me. I have no probably with cosmetic DLC, I just don't care to buy it.

This.

If you like the game, why not support it with a bit more money? It's no different from buying merch, except that it improves your game experience.

The only bad thing is when there is content that you cannot acquire, even with money. I'm looking at you, Hearthstone.

If you demand respect or gratitude for your volunteer work, you're doing volunteering wrong.

Leaving the Horse Armor, that was if not the frst DLC, the first one that the gamer community complained about, aside, I think that it started to go wrong when things that had always been part of a game/franchise started to get sold separately, for example the different Street Fighter costumes for each character.

But at the end of the day, there are good and bad DLCs, and it's our task to recognize them and buy the ones that are worth our money.

Please excuse my bad English.

Currently gaming on a PC with an i5-4670k@stock (for now), 16Gb RAM 1600 MHz and a GTX 1070

Steam / Live / NNID : jonxiquet    Add me if you want, but I'm a single player gamer.

The Last of Us DLC didn't add a new ending lol xD

??? Left Behind happens mid-game and before the game. It's not close to the ending at all, so what do you mean by that you're looking at TLoU?

Still waiting for an answer to this too lol...

That makes three of us.

You did not play The Last of Us, did you?

I think now, it seems, that games company make a game with the intent on releasing DLC, that's wrong. They should make the game THEN decide if DLC is worth their time but nearly all release a 'season pass' maybe even before they know what's in the season pass.

Hmm, pie.

There's been some great DLC in recent times. Mario Kart 8, The Witcher 3, Fallout 4, DriveClub.

Actually DLC started wrong and then went on to become better.

Most of the stuff is overpriced though. Only buying it when it's on sale. Content-wise I see no problems.

The entire of DLC is to get more money for a less complete product.

No it's really not, don't generalise so much. There's plenty of titles that are perfectly complete on their own.
