Why does the 'hardcore' always have to parade their 'i hate motion control' badge?

Do they lose gamer points or something if they don't?

Of the young and old teens that I know, they all have fond memories of Wii and motion control. Grown adults telling teens what is and isn't fun/cool is hilarious to me.

This!

Wait... What's going on? Am I missing something? Did you watch the video or read my summerization? He basically says he loves the motion controls on the Switch. Why is this a point of contention?

It's less motion control and more 'casual/party' games. He does say Arms has great MC after shitting on the game that uses the most of the new controller tech, had the biggest lines at the preview and had people having a great time. If it was the next generic AAA game that had that kind of reception, they'd be all over it.

Probably because AAA games appeal to Gamers while casual games like 1-2-Switch appeal more to people that aren't your typical gamer. My mum would be more likely to play 1-2-Switch then RDR or Batman for example.

So why are you upset that a Journalist who doesn't like a game, says he doesn't like the game. Isn't an honest opinion good?

... 1,2 Switch isn't a casual or a party game?  He says it looks fun, says he wanted to play but the line was huge, stresses the people who actually played had positive reception of the game and openly admits his previous thoughts on the game, as well anyone else who didn't play it, derives from the fact that he didn't get to actually play it. In what way is he shitting on it? I both watched and made a summary so I know at no point does he trash the game

I think you are overreacting waaaay too much.

I took his comment as something I keep seeing on gaming comment sections. Didn't watch the video.

Please either watch the vid or read the summerization and formulate your own opinion.

Clunky controls like TLG in Zelda sounds bad.

Worried me too, but I've read and watched a ton of hands-on experiences with the game and they're the first to not like the controls. Hopefully they're the anomaly, and given how negative they were feeling about the console in general, that seems possible.

While I don't have time to watch the video, I did have time to read this nice summary. So I wanted to say I appreciate the effort you went to, to summarize the video.

It went far and beyond even a simple "tl;dr". Even including headings, and time frames etc.

" Why does the 'hardcore' always have to parade their 'i hate motion control' badge?"

" Motion Controls: best he ever experienced" yeah.. people really do need to read this well written lay out first.

I really appreciate that. Honestly I was getting a bit frustrated there.

Edit: v Same to you Eagle; I just don't want to clog up the thread thanking people

To summarize the highlight the points of what has been said:

1:13 - Starts to talk about the Switch

2:01 - Says the Nintendo Switch event was a total 180 from the presentation; Explains the key differences that made the event much better.

3:48: Did NOT play the following:

- 1,2 Switch: Wanted to play it. Had one of the biggest lines. Regrets not playing because people around him reall championed the HD Rumble. States that people who have played it seemed to really like it. Admits he wrote it off mainly because he didn't get play it. States that it really differs from Wii  Sports because it has more of a Cards Against Humanity party feel over the Wii Sports family fun time feel

Has been Heroes: Looks like a Vita game

-Disgaea 5: No much interest

- Just Dance 2017: Generic Just Dance dance girl booth

- Skylanders: Imaginators: No Interest;

8:44: Played the following

-ARMS: Super good. Can't see this as a system seller. Motion controls felt amazing. Very precise Has a Splatoon/Overwatch and impression for him

-BotW: Fantastic. Looks and feels special. Knows the difference between to 2 version, but didn't see it. Controls feel glaringly clunky, like TLG. Minor  issue

-Splatoon 2: Looks great. Not a fan of the franchise though.

-SnipperClips: Sleeper hit of the event. Really wants to do a longplay of the game.

-Mario Kart 8 Deluxe: Loves the battle mode. Forced to play with a single Joycon, and it was horrible experience. Couldn't hurt his positive  impressions.

-Fast RMX: Super happy its getting a second life on the Switch because it deserves it

-Super Bomberman R: One of the better experiences.

-PuyoPuyo Tetris: Super fun game

-Sonic Mania: Forced to play with a single Joycon; Co-op seems tacked on

-USFII: Not satisfied. Only 2 new characters, looks like HD remix. Likes the Co-op concept

29:15: Talks about Hardware.

- Joycons: really as tiny as they look, but suprisingly comfortable. Doesn't like the small buttons or change in Dpad. Don't like signle Joycon play

-With Grip: As good as Pro controller except for Joycon Issues

-Motion Controls: Crisp

- Wiimote Nunchuck style: Fantstic. Next step to wireless controllers.

Handheld Mode: Everything he wants it to be EXCEPT for the Joycon issues

Motion Controls: best he ever experienced

-HD Rumble: Unsure how to feel. Didn;t notice it much on the Pro Controller

-Pro Controller: Likes it, but the weakest of all current controllers on the market. Not by much. Very solid controller. Not worth the price.

Great summary Thanks man

I do want to mention that Tim actually really liked the Last Guardian, also if I remember correctly, Digital Foundry mentioned something about the controls feeling a little old. I'll try to find a source for that though.

Bet with Adamblaziken:

I bet that on launch the Nintendo Switch will have no built in in-game voice chat. He bets that it will. The winner gets six months of avatar control over the other user.

Tagging, probably won't watch it but the summary is good enough :p

I learned over the years to never trust any positive comment about games from console people. They don't have the standards or experience to accurately judge those things. I will trust negative comments though because if a console guy thinks something is bad on console it must be really bad.

It's not like I was always this way but I've been burned too much by "it's totally smooth" and "there are no jaggies".
