"According to Sega, it will be releasing a few patches over the next couple of weeks that add free downloadable content to the game. Each batch will contain content such as new outfits, weapons, items, and crafting components. The first downloadable content is available today, and three additional batches will be made available every week until February 14. As great as this game and series looks, I've still yet to plunge into this.  I'm just glad 0 was finally brought over to North American.  It really should not have taken Sega this long.

1. You should definitely get into this! And being that this is the prequel then this should be the best time to start.

2. Unfortunately Sega has always taken awhile for this series to get localized.  Yakuza 2 on PS2 took 2 years to get localized after its initial release in Japan.  So they're getting faster at localizing this but still not fast enough.

Not knowing the details of the series, I've always wondered whether it Sega fearing that it was to "Japanese" for the NA audience or did 0 too so long to localize because of its "questionable" sexual content.  But from your experience, how is the localization?

I think it likely has a lot to do with that.  I've read how some Japanese developers fear of making certain games because it may be too 'Japanese' and then wont sell a lot at all.  (Also one of the reasons why Capcom never made a new Onimusha game).

The localization has been pretty good.  I know that Yakuza 3 they cut out a lot of content that the Japanese versiona had (ie host clubs and mini games) but they've been pretty good at leaving them as is now with Yakuza 4 and 5.  But the game already provides so many mini games, sidequest etc. that you wouldn't really notice they cut stuff out lol Each game i've put in +100hrs.

Also don't expect English dub as I think only the first Yakuza had English dub but then the rest were all in Japanese with subtitles.

Overall, if you love an indepth story, fun gameplay and interested in the world of Yakuza and crime gangs, this game is a must :)

Hey, maybe I can jump on 0 soon and hope for a remaster from the other titles.

Well you're somewhat in luck as Yakuza Kiwami (Yakuza 1 full remake) is coming out later this year, it was released almost exactly a year ago in Japan.  And Yakuza 6 is being released locally early 2018 I believe.

Unfortunately no word on Yakuza 2-5 for remakes/porting to PS4.  But worst case each Yakuza game from 3-5 have all had a video summary in the game summerizing each of the previous games. So im expecting Yakuza 6 to at least have video summaries for each previous games. But it's just not the same as actually playing them.

Saw angry Joes review.... dispite alot of things that slightly annouyed him, the story and gameplay won him over.
He gave it a 8/10 and apparnetly loved how cheesy it was.

I hope this game will get the sales it deserves to. We need more Yakuza in our lives.
