I think it likely has a lot to do with that.  I've read how some Japanese developers fear of making certain games because it may be too 'Japanese' and then wont sell a lot at all.  (Also one of the reasons why Capcom never made a new Onimusha game).

The localization has been pretty good.  I know that Yakuza 3 they cut out a lot of content that the Japanese versiona had (ie host clubs and mini games) but they've been pretty good at leaving them as is now with Yakuza 4 and 5.  But the game already provides so many mini games, sidequest etc. that you wouldn't really notice they cut stuff out lol Each game i've put in +100hrs.

Also don't expect English dub as I think only the first Yakuza had English dub but then the rest were all in Japanese with subtitles.

Overall, if you love an indepth story, fun gameplay and interested in the world of Yakuza and crime gangs, this game is a must :)

Hey, maybe I can jump on 0 soon and hope for a remaster from the other titles.

Well you're somewhat in luck as Yakuza Kiwami (Yakuza 1 full remake) is coming out later this year, it was released almost exactly a year ago in Japan.  And Yakuza 6 is being released locally early 2018 I believe.

Unfortunately no word on Yakuza 2-5 for remakes/porting to PS4.  But worst case each Yakuza game from 3-5 have all had a video summary in the game summerizing each of the previous games. So im expecting Yakuza 6 to at least have video summaries for each previous games. But it's just not the same as actually playing them.
