Forums - Nintendo - Aonuma says Zelda: Breath of the Wild doesn’t have an option for dual audio

Aw man, I really wanted English text, Japanese voice over, Hungarian music, and Byzantine sound effects. What's the point of Nintendo investing so much time and energy into emergent gameplay and a huge open world if I can't mix and match my languages?

Fuck the Sheikah Stone. I want a god damn Rosetta Stone.

Pre-order cancelled.

If you haven't yet, go hack your WiiU.

Do you have a guide for that? Can it disable region lock?

Also, installing homebrew seems pretty easy:

I'm pretty sure this would allow you to remove region lock. I've never tried this myself so do your research and proceed with caution.

Wow. Are people really that upset about this that they are not purchasing this game? That seems very nitpicking to me.

Good. Japanese VA is one of the worst things ever

Watching both trailers, I would disagree whole-heartedly. Side by side, there is a huge difference in quality between the the voice actors. Enjoying something more in your native language is fine...but certain aspects of the performance can still be compared objectively, like vocal inflections and tone. This is my main issue with most English dubbed anime. The Japanese voice acting industry is much much bigger than its equivalent in the west...and difference in quality is evidence of that.

Anyways, this is really obnoxious, and is part of why I hoped they would never incorporate voice acting into Zelda; I had very little faith it would be done properly. I'll just have to hope the voices in the trailer aren't completely representive of the end product....we'll see.

Of course...this isn't nearly enough to impact my purchase. I've enjoyed JRPGs with English-only audio of much lower quality...so I hardly weigh this as the most important part of the game. Still something that dissapoints me though.

If there isn't much dialogue then it should be fine. From that trailer, its only Zelda's voice that is worrying.

But maybe its the same reason as FE Fates? Something to do with the Japanese Voice Actors Company?

I don't mind English VA as im often too lazy to read the text, my gf on the other hand won't play games unless they are with Japanese VA, shes the same with anime.

I'm the opposite, too impatient to wait for VA. I turn on subtitles so I can click to the next line before the voice actor is halfway through his/her slow mumbling. It might as well be Japanese so it doesn't interfere with me reading :) Or just turn voices off. I hope it's not like other Zelda's where the text appears painfully slow as if you're taking a second grade reading class.

Btw this reminds me of Wii Fit on the WiiU. The metric/imperial system was tied to system language. If you wanted to see your weight in pounds you had to set the system to French (Canadian), or English (Canadian) for Kg. Which incidentally is the wrong way around as well. If you're not letting people make their own choices, at least get it right...

Or in his case, the only way to address anything negative said about what he likes.

Perhaps the use of vocaloids, a made up language, like that used in Gravity Rush with subtitles would have been a better option. Then we would know what the spoken Hyrulian language sounds like. Nintendo has invented a written Hyrulian language, why not a spoken one too?
